Lifan Lycan V twin 250

So call me crazy. I did it again and bought another bike. I've been wanting the Lycan 250 ever since it came out a few years back, but was never in stock when I was able to buy one. I owned a 1989 Yamaha Route 66, better known as the V Star 250 now for many years and loved that bike. With the EPA giving Lifan along with other Chinese manufacture trouble on getting EPA approval, American Lifan has only gotten one bike approved, The KP Mini 150RS. It doesn't look promising that the rest of the Lifan line will get any approval for 2024. Venom Motorsports has bought up the remaining KPX 250 and Lycan 250 stock in order to make sure the have Lifan bikes to sell this year. This is wee i decided I'll buy the Lycan just so i could have one. It made sine in my head anyway. lol The bike is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday.

I'm also looking to get a nice touring bike and sell the Vulcan S. I plan on starting to do some long road trips, so need to upgrade to something more suited. I'm looking at several different option from buying used and new.

JerryHawk250 04-03-2024 02:22 PM

The bike was delivered early. It arrive right before lunch. Can't wait to get home and start assembling. :D Bike is insured and I'll get it registered and tagged before the bikes even assembled. lol

I always had a mild interest in the Lycan 250, but the 5k price most places were asking for it always turned me away from it. I see that Venom now has it for $3500. That makes it more worth it for sure. How cramped do you think 6ft 4 me would be on one? I keep toying with the idea of a scooter for work commuting, but this would be more fun and fill that same role.

Venom had bought all the 2023 models Lifan has left. It doesn't look like they will get many of their bikes EPA approved. That's why they bought all the KPX and Lycans from Lifan. Depending on you inseam. I have a 32" inseam and fits me perfect. If you have long legs, you might feel cramp in the leg area. Arms would be fine.

It got dark on me last night so not too many pictures. I did shoot some video. I started editing last night in hopes of having a video this morning. Something happened with my audio. most of the second half of the videos had no audio. I guess I'll have to voice over the second half tonight.

I did take the bike out for a short ride. The bike is so smooth and comfortable. Shifting is nice and smooth just like my KPX. Even though it was a little on the chilly side this morning, I did take it to work.

Here's a few pictures.

JerryHawk250 04-04-2024 07:51 AM

Here's a short clip on How she sounds. Yeah, I did miss 2nd gear. lol I wasn't used to the floor boards and having to lift a little more on the shifter. I need to do a slight adjustment for my Boots.

That bike sounds awesome, and a good looking bike to boot. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on it after riding it a while

I was mainly worried about the legs. After I saw your video I may have to pass. My 34 in. inseam is probably going to be a bit uncomfortable. Ah well. Looks like a nice smooth riding bike too. That's ok though, I finally did decide on a bike. The hard part will be getting my hands on one as it just released this year.

It does sound good. Even for a small twin is still has that rumble to it. Such a nice looking bike too.

Thumper 04-05-2024 07:20 AM

Yeah, I like the sound of it. And I'll bet it makes more torque than a 250 single. Interesting engine.

I still don't know why there is this invisible barrier at 250cc for most Chinese bikes. Maybe it is a domestic regulation there. 400cc or more would make sense for a Vtwin!

Lifan does have a 300cc and a 600cc V twin. The 2024 EPA regulations have changed and making it harder to get anything passed EPA. It's not just Lifan. CSC and CF Moto and a few others are having issues too.

Watched your walk around Jerry. That is a nice looking bike. I like the name too, reminds me of werewolves (lycanthropy). That beings said, when there is a full moon, avoid riding it.

Its a nice looking bike, even for a non-werewolf. heheheh :)

Thanks, I really like it. Very comfortable ride. I rode for about 3 hours and didn't feel like it. I think it's the perfect bike for me.

The ST is the most perfect touring bike Honda had made, in my opinion. Great power, not half a ton like the Goldwing, but every bit as smooth. Good handling bike too.

Did my first oil change at 110 miles.

I didn't even know this St1300 existed until recently. I always been a cruiser and Dual Sport person. When I ran across the St1300 on FB Marketplace, i began doing a little research. I liked the fact that it was more in the weight range of bike that I would feel more comfortable with. The power is ridiculous. Front wheel will lift unintentionally with hard acceleration. Ask me how i know. :hehe: I'm really liking this bike more every time I take it out.

NICE! Me and 2 of my co-workes orders ours and we have a project called Lite Co-Vert where we will be converting them into smaller streetglides (baggers) lol Just the cosmetics! I will show you the video of the guy who gave us the idea. He lives here in Ohio. It looks beautiful. Yours sounds great and looks great!

Does the Lycan make my ST1300 look small? Obvious optical illusion. lol The Lycan is about the same size as the Vulcan S though.

So i installed the 40 tooth rear sprocket Friday after work. The original sprocket was a 45 tooth. Man that makes a huge difference. The JTR857.40 is a perfect fit. https://amzn.to/49WTely
