French Alps 2014
Hi guys,
on sunday I will be on the way from Germany to the French Alps. I want to ride all the way down to Menton France near Monaco. I want to ride on the "Routes des Grandes Alps" (great Alpine Road). https://www.google.com/maps/ms?msid=...ad186f15&msa=0 I will try to post something every day if I can or have Internet. Again like my trip to lake garda last year I have made no reservations for anything. I will hop on the Tenere xt660z and see what Happens! I Will be on the road for 6-7 days and be staying at camping sites at night. |
Fantastic! Since most of us don't have the ability to just take off on an awesome adventure like that, I'm grateful that you're sharing it with us.

Color me jealous.

Day 1: I rode about 500 Kilometers today. I am in switzerland near lake Geneva, 10 km near the French boarder. I was on Autobahns to get Here quicker to where the French Alps Start so tomorrow I will Start at the beginning of the great alpine road.

So cool! I'm guessing that you cut through Switzerland on your journey; did you ride through Austria as well?
|
Thanks for taking us along on this ride.

Hi,
day 2 & 3. I didn't have any Internet yesterday. Found a place to stay for the night and seems they have good WiFi. Yesterday I rode from Thonon-les Yesterday to Bourg ST Maurice. Was almost 200 kilometers. Today I rode from Bourg St. Maurice to St. PAUL Sur baye. That was quite a ride today. I was on col de I'Iseran with 2764 Meters and Col du Galibier with 2646 Meters and Col d'Izoard at 2360 Meters. Col is the French word for "Mount". Pictures are to come.. |

Nice ;) we went there last year
Here the dream team ;) ha ha |
Hi guys, I am back home safe. I rode over 2400 kilometers. Here are some more pictures for you.
@zingshoen There was not so much traffic because the school vacations are over. So September is probably the best month to go there. @Philamiens I really liked it there. I think I will go there again next year. Next time I will find a central location to camp at, and from there I will do day trips. This way I only have to put up the tent once. Day 4 I rode from St. Paul sur-Ubaye to Nice, Monaco, Menton and back up to the "Gorges du Verdon" region. Which is the french Grand Canyon. Beautiful area. Day 5 I rode through the Gorges du Verdon and back up to Grenoble. Day 6 I rode back home to Germany. This was 700 Kilometers for the that day. |

Thanks for posting the great ride report, TBR.
The Alps are beautiful, and the Mediterranean is warm. It doesn't get any better than that. :D |
Far out, great trip! Wish I was there. Nice seems nice. Looks like Queensland!
|
Indeed, Nice seems very nice. In fact, it's probably as nice as Nice can be. :)
