Qingqi/Qlink XF200 Wheel Parts?

Hey Everyone!

In my thread about the XF200 Shifting Issue , the tpoic has been diverted to repairing my rear wheel. In order to keep that thread on the original topic and get more support, I have created this one.

When I was working on my bike for the clutch issue, I discovered the rear wheel had a broken spoke and the rest are all loose. I am going to true the wheel myself, but don't know where to get definitive replacement spokes for the XF200. The Qlink XP200's spokes can theoretically be replaced with DR200 spokes, but the poor little XF200 has 17 inch motard wheels that (as far as I know) don't take replacement spokes from another bike.

On Taobao, they have the following parts:
a) http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=23274096170
b) http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...cket=18#detail
c) http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...cket=18#detail

B and C appear to be the inner and outer spokes for the drum side of the wheel, but what about the spokes for the sprocket side and the front wheel? Of course USA sources would be optimal unless the price difference justifies bringing in parts from China.

My goal is to try and find sources for the different spokes so riders like myself will be able to have a place to order replacements without having to worry whether they are the correct parts or not.

Safe Riding

Does your QLink XF200 have a rear drum brake? Please post a photograph of both sides of your rear wheel so we can see the different spokes on both sides of the wheel. ;)

The clarification is much appreciated, thank you!

So I went out and measured the spokes. Here is what I got, although I am not sure how accurate they are.

Front Wheel (All spokes seem to be the same):

Rear Wheel Left Side (Inner and outer appear to be the same):

Rear Wheel Right Side (Inner and outer appear to be the same):

Weldangrind 04-16-2015 01:18 AM

The front spokes are likely to all be the same, but the inners and outers of the rear wheel are probably dissimilar. The only way to know for sure is to remove a couple and compare them.

Today I am making the purchase from TaoBao since I have to get some clutch parts as well. I am using the agent TaoBaoTrends.com and am wondering how to specify this to the agent. It doesn't let me increase the cart number and shows a price of $0.00.

jct842 04-25-2015 07:21 PM

Does one have to buy a whole set or can you just buy a couple. The reason I ask is possibly getting a half dozen of each size available coming then you would be totally covered to replace the one broken one and have a few spares. and would not cost a huge amount.

The Thinker 04-25-2015 07:26 PM

My understanding is the price is for 1 spoke. What I then did was set the quantity at 20 in the cart of my agent (I used Yoybuy) then specified in the instructions box that the seller needs to give us 5 of each and I pasted this underneath just to be sure:

左/內 | L /In | 5
右/內 | R /In | 5
左/外 | L /Out | 5
右/外 | R/Out | 5

humanbeing 04-25-2015 07:50 PM

Make sure the agent filled the additional info to seller (the bottom box that says "300") 4款/各5根

I just sent a message to the agent about the item stating just that, thank you again Humanbeing!

I'm not sure if the agent understands what I need :D

humanbeing 04-26-2015 07:08 PM

Are they also illiterate in written Chinese?
左内 5|左外 5| 右内 5|右外 5| TOTAL =20

The Thinker 04-27-2015 01:54 AM

OH I forgot to mention I'm getting 7 of each, I forgot to change that value. I'm going to copy and paste the text above with the values of 7 for each spoke.

Edit: So I just checked and saw the status is now "Purchased" and the agent responded in the chat "Thanks friend, 28 pieces in total". So I guess it's time to start praying :D

The Thinker 04-27-2015 07:29 PM

Just to add some info to the thread for future riders, Humanbeing kindly supplied me with the TaoBao link to a replacement speedometer cable for the XF200: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=35257606144

While on ebay I found these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-Motio...item2c986bb511

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Speedome...-/161363214668

Are either of these a viable US source for a replacement cable?

david3921 04-28-2015 02:56 AM

The second link shows what I think will work but don't know why it's for an earlier DR200. If a dealer is near by get one for a DR200SE any year in the 2000s. I know those will fit.

I ended up ordering before I saw this, so I hope what I purchased will work. I will find out when it gets here Thursday and let you guys know!

Just a side question: Does anyone know the screw type for the footpeg mounts on this bike? I went to home depot and couldn't find anything similar because it appears to be a high thread machine screw...

That's it, im printing this and gluing it to my forehead :D

Thank you for the link as always :), I keep forgetting to refer to that

The Thinker 04-29-2015 06:43 PM

I had to drive like 30 miles to get to the only store near me that has this screw, but it was worth it! The only difference is all they had was a standard black hex socket version which will rust, so after everything comes in the mail and I don't need to open the clutch anymore I am going to put the screws in then coat the heads with black paint to protect them. I will update everyone as soon as anything comes in the mail :)

jct842 04-29-2015 07:15 PM

You would be surprised how long those screws will last with just the residual oil from the engine on them. They are hardened steel and since you do not have salt to contend with I would not worry about them at all. john

Well the thing is I used a smaller version of the same screws on my carb and they are all completely rusted.

Update

Links to all things:
- KN-131 Filter
- Speedometer Cable
- Tusk Truing Stand
- Tusk Spoke Wrench
- Spokes that will be here next week
- Magnetic Oil Drain Plug that will be here within the next decade
- Dirt cheap tire irons

I have received the speedometer cable, truing stand, spoke wrench, and a K&N oil filter. I proceeded to get my rear wheel off which involved precariously lifting my bike on a car jack with a contact of around 2 square inches which was nerve racking to say the least :D. To get the tire off I needed some tire irons, so I contacted my local car shop who said for a 24" tire iron it would be $80. I laughed in his face, hung up the phone, and drove to harbor freight where I purchased 2 for $10.

I put the rim on the stand and loosened every spoke to the max, then sprayed everything down with wd40. After letting everything soak, I attempted to try truing the wheel. My method was to go every 3rd spoke as it says in Tusk's video, then skip one and go every 3rd, etc, etc, untill every spoke has been tightened. I spun the wheel and it was horrible looking, so I ignored the stand's tools and just did everything by how each spoke felt in the wrench. After doing this for some time, I spun the wheel and it was very true to my suprise. I just had to do some minor adjustments here and there. The only spot that is not proper is where a spoke is missing, and even then it is a very small deviation.

http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...501_191335.jpg

After this I started on the front wheel, but noticed it is on there with a 12mm hex key bolt which I (nor any hardware store in my area) has. I went ahead and broke out the JB weld and got an old 1/2 inch socket. I then got a 1/4" bolt with a head size of 12mm, then got two half inch nuts that thread onto the 1/4" bolt and threaded them together so they lined up and were stuck together. I put these into the 1/2" socket and JB welded everything together so it will never come apart. The result, a 12mm hex key socket adapter :D

The speedometer cable was a perfect fit, and so was the oil filter. In some other threads I have read people have disagreed on whether certain filters fit or not. I can say without a doubt that on a 2013 XF200 with kick and electric start the KN-131 fits perfectly. Here are some pics of the filter:

I have definitely had a busy few days! Unfortunately I can't ride the bike till all my clutch stuff gets here on the 6th

Weldangrind 05-03-2015 01:35 AM

Excellent work. Nice job on the socket, and good for you for heading to HF for pry bars.

The Thinker 05-03-2015 02:20 AM

Just a question about the truing of the wheels. How tight should the spokes be? Without a spoke torque wrench I am unable to know how tight they are/should be. I was told to tighten them so they require a nice push but not so much that you actually need to make an effort to loosen them. When comparing my job to the untouched front wheel, the front wheel's spokes have a bit more give in them, however I am not sure if that is because I tightened my wheel too much or the front wheel wasn't proper since the beginning and has been loosening up.

SpudRider 05-03-2015 02:48 AM

Unless one is obsessive compulsive, it is pretty hard to over tighten the spokes. ;) Tighten them enough so the spoke makes a metallic ping when you strike it with a wrench/screwdriver shaft. ;)

Weldangrind 05-03-2015 02:43 PM

Also, don't expect all of the spokes to make the same note when you strike them. A ping is a ping.

Update!

Yesterday was a looong day. My little tool broke so I had to run to harbor freight and barely made it before they closed to pick up a hex key socket set that had the 12mm key in it. I got my spokes in the mail and put in the new spoke, then re trued the rear wheel. After I had the entire wheel assembled on the bike, I noticed I forgot to put the rim strip on and had to take everything apart again. I then trued the front wheel.

After doing all of that I punctured a 2cm hole in the front tube when putting everything back together, so I had to run to the nearest Autozone (20 miles away) and purchased a tire patch kit and an inter tube patch kit. The inter tube patch seems to be holding fine, but I won't be going on any long rides for a few days to make sure it isn't leaking.

So far everything seems to be working perfectly. Before all of this I would let go of the bars and the bike would start oscillating side to side very quickly. I would get horrible wobbles when slowing down or hitting 50+ mph. Today I maxed my bike out (apparently 72mph) with absolutely no bar wobble. It felt like I was on a new bike :D

I want to thank you all for the time you have put into helping me on this journey, I would never have been able to do it on my own :)

SpudRider 05-06-2015 12:56 AM

Thanks for the update. You have done good work, and the knowledge you have gained is excellent.

Weldangrind 05-06-2015 12:57 AM

You're doing all of the hard work, and you're figuring most of it out yourself. You're a credit to this forum.

I've given up on rim strips. I now use a strip of Gorilla tape, torn in half, lengthwise. Tough stuff. I don't recommend a patch; in fact, I'd go for a heavy duty tube.

So glad to hear that your bike is better than before. Nice work.

I used the Hiflo filter on mine when I had it. The number for that filter is HF131. Same exact filter from what I've read (HF makes both) but cheaper and easier to get around here.
