anthonyfa18's gy6 carb on beast 200cc and updats
yes i have put a gy6 carb on my 200cc beast and now you can say it is a real beast. at frist i was going to get a mikuni but you still have a manual chock and how the intake is made it kills performance. here are the pic
       http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4509/img0100s.th.jpg http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/4454/img0101b.th.jpg http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/8973/img0102q.th.jpg http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/1...g0112vs.th.jpg http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/6...g0113ja.th.jpg http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/6886/img0114h.th.jpg and yess i have automatic electric choke working and video is coming soon ps must use a uni filter the air filter i had on was too small |
That's really tempting.
Is that a rad hose that you're using for an intake tube? What else secures the carb? What size is the GY6 carb you're using? |
Being a "vacuum carb" it is VERY forgiving, though you might benefit form fooling with jets, stock being a 103.
Some jetting info here: http://www.chinariders.net/modules.p...ewtopic&t=8995 I have a pair of vacuum carbs off of a 400 Yamaha, that can be split up, and singly used, here I want to "play" with, when the snow goes. |
I am looking forward to the video! Looks cool.

for now i just got the stock exhaust (i modified it for more flow), gio performance cdi and Iridium spark plug. it runs amazing, it has so much more power. i am still running with no filter on the carb because my new filter did not come in. the reason you get more performance with the gy6 carb is because of the remove of the gio intake manifold. the oem intake manifold is very restricted because the air/fuel must go up and then in to the engine. with the gy6 carb it is direct so the is no restricted the air/fuel is sent straight to the motor. so this is why a 26mm gy6 carb give you more power on your 200cc next mod will be a full line exhaust in stainless steel with a 150cc pitbike exhaust. sorry to go a bit off topic but is the rear shock on a gio beast 11" eye to eye ????? |
Yep, 11" eye to eye.
I wonder how to calculate the CFM potential of the 26mm diameter. It would be helpful to know if the 26mm carb can properly feed a 200cc engine throughout the rpm range, assuming 85% VE. Anybody know? I know how to calculate the CFM needs of the engine, but I'm not sure what a 26mm (or 30mm for that matter) can provide. |

Anthony have you made sure that your GY6 carb is jetted properly for your engine? If it came jetted for a 150cc then you may find you think you are getting way more power but it might just be caused by a lean condition and your engine won't tolerate that for long. I know on my PZ30 Mikuni carb, by adding the UNI filter, CDI and the Monster Performance exhuast i've had to jet up 4 sizes on the main and i'm still waiting for the bigger pilot jets to come in as these mods have demanded the need for more fuel, yeah it made tons of power when i first put the carb on but i could hear it in the exhaust note and the engine sounds that it was way too lean. Make sure you do a spark plug check to make sure your jetted properly, this can only be done with a wide open run and then killing the ignition, then reading the plug. |
here is the video # 1 ( drive by coming soon)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsdLWPk5L4M why it died i forgot to put my fuel cut on  so far i did not change any jet, and my spark plug is a light brown tan. |
That was killer! Great job on the installation, including the fuel shut-off. Where did you get that cool tach and speedo?
|
Yeah forget the cool carb install that is some awesome electronic gizmo you got there!! :)
Nice job all around! |

it is the acewell 3100 i got mine from www.motovan.com or you can get it here http://www.electrosport.com/products...etail-1993.php[/quote] That is cool..... |
you guys never seen a acewell speedometer
|
Nope. Where does the tach connect? What about the speedo?

http://www.electrosport.com/technica...structions.pdf and the wiring diagram. i put my speed sensor on my rear sproket and for the rpm u hook up to the wire that goes to the coil. here are the pic for the rpm http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/5973/img0312i.th.jpg see the yellow wires that is from the tach and it plug to the yello/black on the bike. for the speed sensor http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/939/img0313qw.th.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/1920/img0314b.th.jpg sorry it is hard to see |
Thanks for the link. I can see that the tach connects to the positive coil wire, and the speed sensor is the same as the bicycle speedometer I'm currently using.
I haven't seen a one-cylinder electronic tach before. I like it. :D |
It is cool.
I have not seen one either.. but judging by the price on the link you posted that would explain why! It's about HALF the cost I paid for the entire quad, and me CHEAP. :P |

hey guys look what i got today some nice upgrades for my beast
1: 150cc dirt bike exhaust in carbon fiber 2: a performance coil here are the hope u likes   http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8590/img0321g.th.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/5131/img0325ib.th.jpg http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/3269/img0324i.th.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/6...g0322dk.th.jpg |
That carbon fiber exhaust looks pretty cool!
|
Very cool!
We'll have to hear some sound clip vids when you get 'er installed! |

update the performance coil is a must, best 25$$ ever it spent it rev up even faster now. if you have the performance cdi u must get the coil here is the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.ca/RACING-IGNITION-C...item2304e30c36 |
I wonder if that coil would be any different then the one they sell at GIO on the auctions for the GY6 150cc engine? It kinda looks the same, other than yours already has the NGK spark plug boot spliced in. I may have to try it out on my beast.
|
It appears different.
The one GIO sells has a hole in the body of the coil for a single stud mount, and, of course, you do not get the NGK LB05FP spark plug end. The GIO coil comes with a silicone wire of good length with a protective sleeve. It also includes a fairly heavy duty spark plug end designed to seal up the cooling shroud on a GY6, but should work well elsewhere. For the $2, or so, you are going to buy the GIO one for, I would certainly try one (I have bought 3 so far). |
i forgot to say that the ngk plug did not fit on my spark plug so i put my oem one on. also r you that the one from gio works on the beast??? the mounting is different and it has 2 wires to plug on it wile the beast has only one.??
|
You might have to put on or remove the little screw top on the plug to work with the high voltage wire connector on your machine.
|
Quote:
dose it really make a different ngk to oem ???? |
|
how do u remove it??? i never thought you can remove that. also is it really necessary to put the ngk one it work good with the oem one
|
It is simply threaded on like a nut. You may be able to unscrew it with your fingers, or use a small pair of pliers. I'd replace the plug if you have it already. The Chinese plugs can cause some odd problems that are difficult to diagnose. :D

hey fastdoc i try what u said but my ngk iridium xi dpr8eix-9 sprkplug douse not come apart like u said.
|
Sorry about that. It could be not all plugs are the same way. We tried. :D
|
it ok i will just keep it the way it is. it runs good, it runs like a real beast
|
:twisted:UPDATE:twisted:
look on page 2 remember my carbon 125cc exhaust, well here are my test fit photo http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/144/img0174ed.th.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/6039/img0173ji.th.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us remember this is just a test fit, i will be removing the claps and welding it, and yess it sound sick sound clip is coming soon   |
It does look cool, I'll give it that.
I destroyed a 125cc muffler on my Beast, so make sure you have sufficient breathing and flow there or you'll be refab'ing another muffler soon. |

Let us know if yours lives, as my 125cc muffler came off in three pieces on the trail on the 2nd ride. |
here is a sound clip remember this is a test fit so there is some leaks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkaVtE-HNZ0 recap on mod list -gy6 carb -uni filter -performance cdi -ngk iridium spark plugs -performance coil pack and wire have fun       |
You did a great job, Anthony! Thank you for the superb video, and photos. :) The Acewell computer looks great on your Gio Beast. :)
