Ebayer claims to be American Lifan Authorized?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BRAND...mZ260090353257

This Ebayer claims to be the only online authorized AL dealer.... Is this guy for real or should one of you AL dealers report him??

Good job, Aaron!

You are right, this needed to be taken care of and I just sent it to the office of my rep at American Lifan. No such animal according to A.L.'s program!
My guess ... he won't be able to list them as A.L. products any longer.

Thanks for the info!

Do I get a free bike as a reward? :D :D

Thought it was fishy based on what little I know 8O

After reading through his ebay advertisement, it sounds like he has been reading through the posts here! He seemed to be very proactive as far as claiming Am. Lifan up front, and telling us the difference between Am. Lifan and grey-market Lifan.

ACD 02-24-2007 05:41 PM

I was ready to think he was legit from the knowedge of the issue he had, but couldn't fathom AL granting one dealer that kind of advantage without alienating all the others. It would totally screw the Brick and Motar philosophy.

ACD, getting a little off the subject, how is the donkey?

RPM 02-24-2007 07:44 PM

OK, guys. I just got some info on this guy on Ebay.

It seems that he is actually correct! He is the only authorized American Lifan dealer on Ebay. American Lifan has selected one dealer to do this but with hands tied a bit. He has to get suggested retail or above for the product he lists, thus the reserve auctions. If you notice, his other items are manuals and it looks as though they are at retail, nothing going at a great savings.

This was explained to me by A.L that this was an experiment to see if it would help to get the name out and educate the differences between the gray market bikes and a true American Lifan. You stated that he was stating the pros and cons very liberally and in bold wording, that's part of the agreement that was made in order for him to list these on the auction. He also carries his own inventory so there is no drop shipping on A.L Corp. end.

This was news to me, but I can understand the idea and marketing stategy associated with this venture. We will see how it comes out.

I hope he isn't taking business away from you or Bruce!

cycleway4 02-24-2007 09:56 PM

glad RPM posted with the facts,....because I was just reading this post/thread, and One Stop is indeed an authorized dealer in Colorado, and has [has had] a very nice website dedicated to his AL franchise dealership.

ACD 02-24-2007 11:39 PM

Well that explains it then! I'm tired of scams so I'm glad something is actually legit here and that it will not compete with you AL dealers. Now as for the Donkey he's fine but a pain in the a$$ !!

ACD,
In an earlier post, Culcune said you had pics of your bike, flat black in a gallery here, I cant find them...
I'm going mad max with the all flat black and new decals..

I haven't seen your bike but would like to see it if you did this???

If not, could you please paint the Donkey flat black and post that for tomorrows 4pm shindig, I'll bring the wine...

It was all black but not flat black and I ordered mine in Black so all I did was desticker it. The Jetmoto's panels would have been easy to paint as they were already painted and not color molded.

My wife says I can't paint the Donkey :(

ACD, That's a nice looking bike, I really like the black, I don't think Lifan sells a black model GY-5 so I'm going to paint it myself... I was looking at that same bike on e-bay before I bought my GY, I think it said ALPINE on the sides of the tank..

ACD 02-25-2007 11:38 AM

It did and said GY200 on the side panels. If you knew what I sold it for 2 weeks ago you'd cry. It only had 50 miles on it. We are still having some financial trouble. Such is life. It will get better I hope. Good luck painting the Lifan it will look sweet in flat black. Mad Max Bikes Rule!

Lifan on ebay

I watched the bidding for the lifan 200gy it only went to $1124.50 plus $230 for shipping. American lifan bike for $1354 shppied.

Jim 04-06-2007 11:57 PM

So... I guess this is why t-motorsports doesnt sell any gy-5's anymore?

ejcycles 04-07-2007 08:37 AM

Ok Guys

This is an Up-Date about {One Stop Motorcycle Shop} in Colorado Springs. I talked to Shawn at American Lifan about this prior to this post being here about One Stops auctions.
It is a fact that this is The Only Dealer in The USA for American Lifan that has permission from American Lifan to sell on e~Bay. He has to Sell all bikes at Dealer List Price and Shipping. What you are not seeing is that they also have to be assembled by a Dealer after the fact of the sale. So you will also need to pay a Dealer to Assemble & Prep the bike. All of his auctions are Reserve Price Auctions for the bikes. Shawn has also been monitoring the auctions and he {One Stop} needs to raise his bottom Dealer List Prices.
Example: All prices on my web site for American Lifan products include List Price, Freight, Assembly & Prep. The only thing I can't include is title fees & tax. Tax in Ohio is calculated to the county you live in, so it's not possible to add this.

T-Motorsports does not have many bikes on e~Bay because he was selling off the old stock that he had and T-Motorsports Is Not an American Lifan Dealer. He is another Grey market importer/dealer like the rest of them that sell these bikes cheap. The Gray market importers are getting cut off slowly and should be cut off within the next year.

I hope this helps explain this a little better.

Yeah it does, thanks for the info... (the only thing is tmotorsports had green ones, so Im trying to be in contact with them about getting spare green plastics, from the sounds of it they can get me some special order, but I am waiting to hear back again)
