How to Upload Pics Directly to the Forum
1. You must click on the "Post Reply" button, rather than typing in the "Quick Reply" box.
2. Click on the paper clip symbol. 3. Click "Browse" to find the picture on your hard drive. 4. Click "Upload". 5. Click "Close this window". 6. Click on the paper clip again, and you'll see your picture filename under the "Manage Attachments" header. Click on the filename. That's it. |
Ok! When I hit the paper clip it opens a window for "Manage Attachments " and shows the "Choose file" button, to download from your computer.. it doesn't show any "Browse" option Murphy's law...story of my life!!!!

I would love it if this works. Photobucket is a pain in the butt for me. This is just an experiment. Priest Lake Idaho, this weekend. Airplane camping and mountain biking.

Is there some way to orientate the image? Mine always post sideways then push the dialog box wide.
Attachment 6374 |
I'm guessing you're using an Apple product; same thing happens to me. With a PC, I open the image in the default viewer, rotate it properly and then hit save. I then proceed with uploading to the forum.
|
May change photo settings to less resolution. May be taking pics in wide-screen format, see if you can change it to more square size like the old TV dimensions 4 : 3 . Just a guess you can can post pics and use the preview button to test before submitting.
|
No, I'm on a PC and they are orientated the right way before I upload them. I'll try shrinking them down.

Weld and grind pic question
I cannot ever upload more than 5 pics per post. I currently see on another thread members posting upward of 25 pics on one post. http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=17466
How is this being accomplished? |
BB, probably by using a third-party host, like Photobucket.

Some of my pics upload and others have too big a file size. I take them all with my iPhone so not sure how to fix that. Anyone have a tip?

I like to have the pics i take moved to my pc anyway so it works for me, and i do most posting on pc. If you are mostly mobile, you can probably find a free app to resize the images and save to phone and then upload. |

They really need to change the settings on this forum. The image size limit is like something you’d have in the 1990s.
It isn’t going to cause huge hosting costs to set this at a normal limit. |
I use imgbb it works better AND you can click on the pictures to geta cursor and click again to upload a higher resolution picture to view. Instructions:
Enter imgbb in the internet search box or This is a web site hosting pictures. Click the start uploading button It will bring up pictures on your computer (key is pictures need to be saved to the computer) Click on the picture you want It will show in the IMGBB Click upload Select under embed codes “BB code full linked” Below that it will show the link and over to the right is a box for “copy” Click on copy "copies the code" Go to your post and past the code in the post box where you want it When you save the post the picture should pop up Each time I upload a picture I close the imgbb and open a new one because I don’t have an account but you can also open an account. |

I use GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program). It is free, and has all of the useful filters and image processing tools that photoshop has. But I gave up on Adobe LONG ago since they figured out a way to prevent me from running my legitimate Photoshop license. They want an annual subscription now.
GIMP is nice. I take nice high rez photos with my Panasonic DMC-FZ28 or my Motorola phone, then transfer them to my computer (USB). Then, -open in GIMP and enhance the image (contrast, brightness, color balance, etc). These options are under the "Color" pull down menu. You can "undo" mistakes and redo the modifications -there is a crop tool that you can use to eliminate border and just work with the part of the image you want to. -resize the image for posting. I have found that 150 pixels per inch and 3 or 4 inches wide gets under the max image size for his forum (image pull down- "scale image") Use the export tool to create a JPG or PNG (dozens of file types available), and the image it ready for posting: Attachment 28512 I found this bozo on the internet. Images take LOTS of space on a server. I totally understand the limitations, and work within them. |
