Templar X 250
Anyone on here heard of this bike? Powersports Max has them listed for around 1750, and at a quick glance, they are a pretty decent looking ride. To me, they are new to the crowd, but, for all I know they have been floating around a bit. Curious to know what you guys may know. The Suzuki style shrouds on the tank scream second generation RMZ 250, which always a plus with me :tup:
Seriously though, the little bike looks pretty dapper for being fairly priced……. |
I have not heard of them, but it comes with a Zong 19hp engine. Could be a great bike.

Looks promising. Has all the pieces for street legality. Just need to see if your state recognizes it for the street.

I like the suspension and engine upgrades, but they list it as "off-road only." I'm guessing that means the MCO says "dirt bike" and it doesn't have an FMVSS label. Usually, these "off road" bikes don't have EPA certification, but the listing for that bike says it is EPA approved.
So, I'm confused. I'd be interested if it was clearer that I could register it. |

Maybe they haven't paid the fees and gone through the process of getting it approved for road use. There must be an administrative process to get EPA approval, if nothing else. I do not see a cat bulb (maybe one in the exhaust, but I doubt it). I would have snagged one for my son if available when we made the mistake of getting the TBR7 But the list of highend components is defintitely impressive. -that engine:clap: -engine guard plate! -decent footpegs -roller throttle ass'y -short shifter with a real folding tip and a tucked in brake lever!!?! -21"/18" wheels with knobbies -adjustable USD forks!?!? -adjustable KKE rear shock -and is that a compression release lever for easy starting on the left hand grip?!?!! -a kill switch (not high end, but good to have) -even the seat looks more substantial than most enduros! |
I’ve done some digging on this thing (day off today), and I can’t find crap. I cannot find an oem, but man this thing screams Nicot to me. It is impressive, but I’d be rather scared to buy one from those guys. Pretty rough dealings several folks have had. But that bike next to the Orion, sure looks like a close cousin………

Newbie here. I've been researching this bike for a couple of days. For whatever reason yesterday they dropped the price by $50 so I placed my order today. From what I can see this is a Zongshen 250 FMM motor. Seems extremely popular in Russia. If you can stand to use Google translate on some YouTube videos there's quite a bit of information on the engine. Appears to also be the same engine in the Orion rbx250l only with a five-speed transmission and not counter balanced. EGL A16 Pro has lots of similarities to frame and suspension...

I am sure the Templar is a quality bike, along the same lines as owners of the Titan dirt bikes and dual-sports have attested to, so should be worth a look as long as one is able to plate them in their particular state. |

If it comes saying "dirt bike", does that stop it from being registered in any state (I'm in Louisiana btw) regardless of it being EPA approved?

I have that same question in Tennessee. That's a concern for me.as well..
Seems like several companies are coming out with this configuration in Europe and US. I did notice in the bikes last photos of the box you can read X7-CB250F as a model #.. I need to see the casting #s on this engine... I did get a email from powersportsmax stating my status has been updated to "order verified". Guess I will find out all these answers soon enough. |

That was the loophole with the RPS Hawk and Magician which are also EPA certified as 'Off-road Dirtbike' (that is what it states on Powersportsmax's website for the Templar and the Titan as far as what the bikes are certified as) but it seems like many states had started cracking down on the Hawk. Some updates. For the MSO this is the response I received.
"The certificate of origin defines it as dirt bike but it has same specs as on road vehcles. We provide paperwork for you to get registration but we dont guarantee it can be registered as road legal. You need to check with your local DMV." Found out that the Bike is Manufactured by Zuumav Wuyi. "Zuumav CB250" being sent to several companies such as Powersportsmax... Seems like there is alot of praise for this engine "zs172fmm-3a" in UK, Russiac Etc. Positive being torque, power and reliability. Negative being Vibration and maxed out displacement for upgrading HP. Some did mention timing chain stretch on 7 to 10k bikes but not on the Zongshen engine another manufacturer... |

This Templar 250 looks like fun. It has a nice long list of better components. But I am going to stick with my Storm for now, and help my son learn to ride and grow into his new TBR7. Depending on how things go (financially), I am still focusing on the GPX TSE 250R. More than twice as much money, but I still want a two stroke enduro.
My first bike was more like my Storm as a heavy 15hp entry level dirtbike (practically "state of the art" at the time-a Suzuki TS250 2 stroke). I do miss that engine. This modern GPX makes nearly 40hp, has MUCH stiffer and lighter frame, better and adjustable suspension, way better handlebar controls, way better foot controls/pegs, electric start, and GPX is developing a good reputation. I will bypass the injection system and mix, for rock solid dependable engine lubrication. |

X-Pro and Powersportsmax are generally one and the same dealer, and 'X-Pro' is a brand of Powersportsmax. They don't promote that because they seem to have slightly different prices from their online store vs. their Amazon store. Powersportsmax (and the Amazon store by default) are generally a powerhouse dealing in Chinese bikes. The owner of Powersportsmax lives in China (I got this information several months ago) and generally has some kind of special relationship over most all the brands. They relabel many bikes as 'X-Pro', such as the 'X-Pro Hawk' but then started getting into their own branding of unique bikes like the Titan and now the Templar. They do get the financing to purchase the last several bikes of a manufacturer so as to gain a kind of command of the sales market (Safer Wholesale out of Illinois does this as well). They were able to obtain quite a few of the last bikes right before the COVID pandemic hit, and still had bikes in stock when others were clear out of them. One thing I do appreciate is the fact that they will take bikes off their listing when they no longer have them in stock, so one does not have to read all the fine print to see that a bike is on 'pre-order' rather than in stock. Remember those months-long waits during the pandemic from some dealers? They got people's money up front, and seemingly dragged them along for months and months. Now, it wasn't all their fault as the manufacturers probably tell them, "1 more month!" and it ended up taking 6, but when bikes did become available at a higher wholesale price, they there were members reporting that dealers were trying get more out of them. Again, not entirely their fault, but at least Powersportsmax only lists what they have in stock or can source and ship rather than string a customer along. Now, there are members, and I am sure Yelp reviews, showing negative experiences for other reasons, so they aren't entirely without 'sin' but at least they only show what they can sell.

Received the bike today. Box was beat to heck & shipping frame mangled.. But only a few scratches nothing major..
As for the Bike. Wow! I'm impressed. Quality is a lot better than I was expecting. Everything is greased, tight and straight. I'm going over everything.. Zuumav build quality has my approval. So impressed I'm questioning should I order a 2nd. Can't see the price going down. I should test it for a week at least... |
Wow, that sounds awesome man, I'm glad it turned out pretty solid. I'm looking for a bike to buy within the coming week, and when I seen this one, I had to run here to grab some info. I think I'm going to go ahead and snag one off of Amazon this coming Monday, and I'll be updating everything on here.

I'm curious who makes the suspension on these...... My son and I are seriously debating getting a pair of these things. As in, both are scrambling the web trying to find any and all info we can. Or, to the point if we have trouble tagging them, to heck with it. We could just trailer them to the trails on a weekend getaway Father and Son style. This could be a nice college graduation present to him..... And to myself, his tuition wasn't cheap!!!!
