i think ive got it

ive been running down the voltages and the trigger coil had the right oms resistance but no voltage when rotating the motor its only geting 0.04 or .11 + volts DC but i dont think thats enough

Corvairkid 05-05-2013 03:49 PM

spud

i wish spud was around he seems to know a lot... SUPER SPUD WHERE ARE YOU!!!!

Corvairkid 05-05-2013 08:47 PM

Corvairkid 05-06-2013 08:43 AM

well.....

i think i may have isolated it the green and white off of the trigger coil goes up to a plug on the other side (wiring harness for the bike side) the wire turns solid green and that side is grounded no matter where i touch so ill be un tapping the harness and looking for shorts there

Corvairkid 05-06-2013 09:02 AM

i found this

http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/.../zong200cc.jpg

i found this on another post and going by this my 250gs trigger wire is wired wrong the green and white i have is going to ground not an isolated circuit

Weldangrind 05-06-2013 11:09 AM

Before you go further, do you have a four pin reg and an eight pin cdi, like in the diagram?

Corvairkid 05-06-2013 03:04 PM

hmm good chatch

5 wire regulator..... 3 yellow 1 red 1 green

Corvairkid 05-06-2013 03:05 PM

and yes the cdi is 8 pin Zong orgnial also have a lifan 300cc box 8 pin

Corvairkid 05-06-2013 03:18 PM

closer

this is a closer diagram of my bike i'm missing the black wire off my regulator tho its in the harness and in the plug but no hole in the regulator where a wire might have come from or markers of where it was in the regulator plug but like i said on the harness side there is a dead ended black wire http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...ingdiagram.jpg

Corvairkid 05-06-2013 07:23 PM

Weldangrind 05-07-2013 12:41 AM

Cool! How is his English?

Corvairkid 05-07-2013 01:15 AM

english is ok not the best but ive seen way worse

English was ok a but broken and confusing as to the terminology but once i learned the terminology like a "winker" is the flasher and the CDI is a ignitor so-forth and so one any ways its 60 USD for a cdi with DHL shipping expedited 7-10 day shipping

i talked with wtmp and best to there knowledge ZS ly200 cdi WILL work with a zs250GS.....

Corvairkid 05-07-2013 01:26 AM

after reviewing the logs of the the convo i found out they are going to make an ali express listing for cdi box's on www.aliexpress.com that meens factory direct CD box's for us [/url]

SpudRider 05-07-2013 02:18 PM

I'm glad you found a CDI unit for your ZS250GS. :) Please keep us updated concerning how well it works for you.

Spud :)

Corvairkid 05-07-2013 03:24 PM

wiring

hey spud i got a question concerning the green and white wire off the trigger coil if it suppose to go to a common ground string or on its own to the cdi box all the diagrams i found have it going from A to B with out connecting to any other grounds

SpudRider 05-07-2013 04:55 PM

I can't tell you, Kid. :? The CDI unit for my Zongshen 200GY-2 is an AC-CDI unit, and is wired differently than yours. I suggest you follow the lead coming from the pickup coil, and see where it connects. ;)

Spud :)

Corvairkid 05-07-2013 07:12 PM

i followed both ends and one goes to the ground wiring the other right to the cdi but on both ac and cd the 8 pin skim shows the cdi having its own wires to the cdi no common grounds i was told the ly200 box would work on a 250gs any one tried by chance?

SpudRider 05-07-2013 08:15 PM

The original, stock CDI unit for my ZS200GY-2 was an LY200 CDI. However, it was an AC-CDI unit. Apparently, the LY200 CDI is available in both AC and DC versions. Here's a link to an LY200 CDI unit I found on Taobao.

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...id=20011299305

This is a DC-CDI unit, and it is supposed to work for your ZS250GS motorcycle. You should order the CDI-ZS067-002 shown in the link above.

My ZS200GY-2 motorcycle is now using a CDI-ZS067-001 unit, which is the AC version. I don't know why, but the AC version is over twice as expensive as your DC version.

SpudRider 05-07-2013 08:29 PM

Have you confirmed the ZS250GS wiring diagram is correct for your bike? Does you bike employ a DC-CDI unit, as shown in the wiring diagram?

The two wires from the pickup coil connect to two, separate connectors on the wiring harness for my ZS200GY-2 motorcycle. However, these wires disappear into the wiring loom, so I don't know if the ground wire is common. In any event, I don't think it makes any difference; a ground wire is a ground wire. ;)

Turn on the ignition key, and make sure the engine kill switch is in the "run" position. Get a digital multimeter, and set it to measure 12V DC. Then connect the negative probe of the digital multimeter to ground. One wire at a time, connect the positive probe of the digital multimeter to all of the wires in the harness connecting to the CDI unit. If one of the wires measures 12V+, your ZS250GS has a DC-CDI unit. ;)

and if not...

You've got to replace the battery before you can test the CDI wiring. ;) What size battery is now installed? I would guess a YTZ7S battery will work well in your Zong, if the dimensions are correct. ;)

Corvairkid 05-07-2013 09:29 PM

its a zs067-001

SpudRider 05-08-2013 12:18 AM

Okay. ;) Click the following link to download the Zongshen 200GY-2 Service Manual.

http://www.chinariders.net/transfer/...ice_Manual.pdf

Page 132 of the service manual contains the wiring diagram for the CDI-ZS067-001, AC-CDI unit. The green/white and blue/yellow wires come from the pickup coil/pulse generator, and should connect to the wiring harness in a small boot near the carburetor. You can test the connections there, or you can locate the green/white and blue/yellow wires at the connector which plugs into the CDI unit.

Set your digital multimeter to read AC voltage. Place one probe on each of the two wires, it doesn't matter which one. With the transmission in neutral, crank the engine, and see if you get pulses of AC voltage coming from the pickup coil/pulse generator. If you do, you have confirmed your bike employs an AC-CDI unit. ;)

All of the AC-CDI units cost about 100 Yuan, after you add local shipping. Here are links to a few of the CDI-ZS067-001, AC-CDI units.

Here is the same, AC-CDI unit, which is being sold on Alibaba.

SpudRider 05-08-2013 12:30 AM

If your testing proves you have an AC-CDI unit, I suggest you buy the CDI units from Taobao, using TBTrends as an agent. I contacted Alibaba, and they are charging $60 per unit, delivered. 8O You can get these CDI units for about half that price if you buy them from Taobao. ;)

Spud :)

Corvairkid 05-08-2013 03:11 AM

yes e bay is 60 bucks as well but it beats 300 for a yamaha.......

Corvairkid 05-08-2013 03:12 AM

at lest every time i turn a screw i dont break something................. count be worse i guess

SpudRider 05-08-2013 03:43 AM

The following CDI unit is priced at 88 Yuan, with a domestic shipping charge of 10 Yuan, equaling a final price of 98 Yuan. At the current exchange rate, 98 Yuan is equal to $15.95 in U.S. dollars (USD).

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...id=18041577178

Sign up for an account at TBTrends.

http://www.tbtrends.com/index.php

The TBTrends agent will charge you a 10 percent fee for every item you order. He will order the CDI units, and any other items you wish to buy, and have them delivered to his office. Then he will place all the items you purchased in one package, and quote you a shipping charge from China.

You will be charged approximately $23.60 in shipping for the first 500 grams (1.1 pounds) sent from China. However, you will only be charged approximately $7.38 in shipping for each additional 500 grams (1.1 pounds) shipped from China.

I think 2 CDI units will probably weigh less than 500 grams. Therefore, you could buy 2 CDI units for approximately $60, delivered. If you decide to order other items from Taobao, your shipping charges would be spread out and reduced for each additional item. ;)

Go to Taobao.com and use the search term "zs250gs" to see what other items you might wish to purchase.

http://s.taobao.com/search?q=zs250gs...itemz_20130508

If you need some cables, plastic, sprockets, brake pads, levers, tool kit, et cetera, you will get very good prices. :) These items don't weigh much, and won't cost much in additional shipping charges. Also, these small, robust items are not easily damaged in shipping. ;) Even if you decide only to purchase 2 CDI units, you will still get them for half the price charged by either Alibaba or eBay. ;)

Spud :)
