Indeed, the Garmin, trail GPS receivers are practically indestructible. My eTrex Legend HcX has taken a lot of punishment, and it is still performing superbly.

I really like the Garmin GPS receivers for off road riding; these units are very rugged.
In the past the only downside to the Garmin GPS units was the high cost of topographic maps. However, since so many people use the Garmin units for adventure/trail riding, many free maps are now available for download. :) In particular, the high resolution, topographic maps at the following website are superb. http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/ Even if you don't have a Garmin GPS receiver, you can still download Garmin Mapsource, or Garmin Basecamp for free, and use the free maps to plan your next ride/adventure on your computer. :) http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...ls.jsp?id=4435 http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...ils.jsp?id=209 If you install Google Earth on your computer, it will integrate with the Mapsource/Basecamp software, and show your tracks/routes superimposed on the satellite images. Using this feature, you can verify the accuracy of your route, and take a virtual ride via Google Earth before you leave your home. :) |
Winter is a good time to plan trips, and prepare GPS tracks/routes. It's also a good time to study, and acquire new equipment. ;) I just purchased a Catoma Lone Rider tent. If you are interested in learning more about this tent, you might enjoy reading the following thread. ;)

Those are great tents Spud. You'll enjoy it's easy setup and take down. I have the 2-up. Had since 2011 Grand Canyon trip. Bigger then I need but it is nice to be able to bring all your gear inside once you set up camp at an area you'll spend a few days in. I can leave the panniers off the bike in there and still have room for my cot and chair. Looks like this one:

I bought the smaller tent because I don't plan to spend extended periods of time camping in the same spot, and I wanted to minimize the pack size, weight, and cost of the tent. ;) |

Thanks for posting a photo of your Catoma tent. :) Is that a Honda NC700X? |
The Zongshen RX3 is listed in the NADA guide for motorcycles. The bike is found under CSC motorcycles, listed as the RX3 Cyclone.
