I need EXTREME help with adjusting the carb!!!!!!!!!

Weldangrind 02-27-2013 12:46 AM

Please be specific; what have you tried with the carb so far.

migue1760 02-27-2013 03:07 AM

Alright i cleaned the carb with carb cleaner all the jets all the air passage ways the needle and i dont know if the jets inside the carb need to be adjusted and i turned the rpm and gas screws 1.5 turns and like it revs turns on but it either stays on high rpms or low rpms and then dies outthen it wont start up i have to put the "choke" on

Weldangrind 02-27-2013 11:15 PM

Did you search for a carb tutorial on the forum?

There is no adjustment for the main jet or the slow jet; they're either in or they're not. Make sure they're tight.

There is no set position for the idle screw. Just adjust it for a sane rpm.

migue1760 02-28-2013 03:03 PM

I read the one that got posted but it was different and how much turns does the gas scree open to when you have a high performance filter

Weldangrind 03-01-2013 12:31 AM

Only you can determine that. The screw should be backed out until the transition from the idle circuit to the main circuit is smooth. IOW, when you crack the throttle open, the throttle bog should be minimal.

If you need to back the screw out more than two turns, your slow jet is too small.

What was different about the tutorial? please post a link to it, so I can see it.

migue1760 03-01-2013 03:00 AM

Ohh ok im going to try adjusting it because its just sitting there taking up space now:/ and heres the link http://www.chinariders.net/modules.p...r=asc&start=45

Weldangrind 03-01-2013 10:12 AM

That's the link that I sent to you. Did you search for a carb tutorial? Heres' one: http://www.chinariders.net/modules.p...ewtopic&t=3743 BTW, the writer in that tutorial meant to write "Keihin".

migue1760 03-05-2013 08:40 PM

Okay i did almost the exact same things but i didnt replace the jets it kinda stays idle but when i rev the rpms stay high and slowly decrease i guess its taking too much fuel in? The forum helped but its not staying normal

Weldangrind 03-06-2013 01:39 AM

That's likely a vacuum leak. While the engine is idling, spray a little WD-40 around where the intake tube meets the cylinder head, and see if the rpm changes. Don't go crazy with the amount you spray; short bursts will tell you what you need to know. Use the straw in the WD-40 nozzle for better accuracy.

migue1760 03-06-2013 01:58 AM

Alright i will do that, and i cleaned the carb again and fixed all the jets and it idle better but like bogs down when i press full throttle and then goes back to normal rpms

migue1760 03-10-2013 04:46 AM

So i fixed everything but its getting too much gas and making popping sounds in the muffler

Weldangrind 03-10-2013 06:51 PM

What leads you to the conclusion that it's getting too much gas?

migue1760 03-10-2013 07:10 PM

Well it finishes the gas i put in the gas tank and backfires and the pipe connected to the cylinder head doesnt get red, and has a high rpm with the choke is on, it doesnt stay idle without the choke it dies out sometimes, i adjusted the carb using the statistics of a 1970 70cc honda but i dont think its correct were like 250 feet belowsea level i dont know if the air affects it
