Yes, the silt in the water caused the premature demise of the engine. ;) However, there was so much mud in the water, a mere oil change would never have removed it. :ohno: Also, I didn't have a choice to push or pull the bike out of there. You have ridden this fire road many times in your several visits to Idaho; I was miles from the nearest gate, let alone the nearest town. ;)
The mud pond was about 15 feet in diameter; it traversed the entire fire road, with a steep hill on one side, and a steep decline on the other side; I could not avoid it. :ohno: The water was about 18 inches deep, and the bottom of the pond was covered in greasy mud. When the front wheel exited the other side of the pond, the rear wheel slipped in the goop. I attempted to put down a foot, but there was only water beneath my foot.
I could hardly stand up in the goop, let alone push the bike out of it. It probably took me about 30 minutes to shuffle my way out of the mud pond. :ohno: |
