Yeah, that's great news (good for you!). You pay $2, I pay $398 high deductible that covers virtually nothing. As yackoff would say , what a country!

I swear, some railroad guys could break an anvil with a rubber hammer.:grr: RTFM is also a foreign concept. All told, 4 hours of real work over 2.5 days. Driving around Miami and Ft. Lauderdale for metric fasteners took the rest of the time.

I could have had the CX done. I did manage to slice the end of a finger a bit and earned a nice bruise on the same hand. I ended up telling the 'Safety Nanny' to take a hike when he insisted I get treatment for what amounted to a paper cut.(I bet 'take a hike' is not what it sounded like to him)

Once I get back home, it shouldn't take too long(Said that before). Route the wires, then remove the FinnBoxG47 and install the new CDI.

As far as when I get home, sometime after turkey day. We rented a house on the coast in Lincolnville, ME and have the whole fam damily here with us. My wife kinda, sorta, took an early stroll around the grounds AND, being the nosy sort she is, peeked in the windows of the locked garage. She came back in while I was trying to have my first cuppa and said, "You gotta come see this." :hmm:I got my coat on and followed her outside. She had me peek in the the garage window and there, sitting in the middle of the garage, is a pumpkin orange Ural Patrol.:) WHODATHUNKIT.

Sounds like a suitable colour for Thanksgiving.

A bit further along, as well as my splitting sinus headache would allow, anyway.. Measure twice, cut once. Double checked the timing first and it was a tad off. Now, as good as it's going to get. Started removing old wires and running new ones. Manual says to remove both blue and white wires to the high voltage coils as they won't be used anymore. Only problem is that the wires are fabric wrapped. After nearly 40 years of soaking in motor oil, all the wires are brown.:doh: Need to do some ringing before I do any cutting.

With some luck, there will be exhaust smoke before Friday.

Reminds me of the time I tried to make a custom harness for my TW. I couldn't make any sense of any output, despite carefully checking the wire colours. Turns out, you can't use a blue LED flashlight when you're already red/green colour deficient. A white flashlight allowed me to see the actual colours and sort it out.

Hall Effect is in and wires run to the top of the frame. I had to get a bit creative as I could not fit my paws in to ring the wires. As I'm not going to be using the hi voltage coils any longer, I'm just going to leave the wires in place and use a blank plug to block off the wires. Both coils are on the way out anyway, so it matters not. One more bolt to get the overfill bottle back in place and then it's on to installing the CDI boxes.

Getting so close I can smell it. Too bad we're looking at snow by Thursday.

Took my entire lunch period to get that last rotten 6mm bolt in place. One of those that you might get an eighth of a turn out of with each application of the wrench. That is, of course, if you can even fit the wrench on the bolt head each time. >:

Anyway, the worst is done. Tomorrow, mount the cdi box, connect 10 or so wires, hang the tank, and hit the starter button.:tup:

Been sitting since August, I probably should hook up the battery charger.

I have a similar situation at work. My solution is to use a gear wrench with a flex head; it allows me to keep the box end on the bolt head and take advantage of the 72 tooth gear. Much faster.

That would have been the catsass, but I didn't have a flex-head available.

It lives again.:yay:

Have to clean up the wiring but that will need to wait until tomorrow. I still have to make a buck. Video this evening.
