What did the watch cost? I would actually wear one like that. |
This one was $48 from Amazon.
Search Russian watches on Amazon and ebay. Most of the Vostok wind up watches are under $50. The self wind Vostoks can be had between $70 and $100. The Vostok Europe models start getting into Citizen Eco-drive price territory. |

Russian Watches
Just a little trivia about Russian watches and their military. Back in 1996, I was in the 82nd Airborne and we did an airborne op in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. I got the chance to meet and hand out with some of the locals. The enlisted Russian army are not taught how to read maps and do land navigation and they don’t have watches, only the officers do. Talk about being forced to follow!
Have a great day! |

Interesting. I would have thought that navigation would be near the top of a list of required skills.
Liking the watch. Most of the time I don't know I have it on. Old habits die hard, and I haven't yet forgotten to wind it. Going back to Standard Time last weekend threw off my comparison with my Casio Atomic but back on track. The Vostok loses about 20 seconds a day and that's pretty good for a fairly cheap mechanical watch. My Casio, on the other hand, is supposedly accurate to 1 second per year. Don't really need that kind of accuracy but it's good to know I have it. |
2 tins of JSB Exacts.....
2 tins of H&N FTTs . |
Not so much buy...but brought a new family member into the home in the form of a 4 month old kitten named Marcus.

A new pair of Columbia winter boots to replace the 10 year old Field & Stream boots that were pre bunion surgery. These fit nicely between the 511 cop boots I wear daily and the 20 year old Sorels that are only worn when absolutely necessary.
Also picked up a pair of full size microfiber bath towels for camping. |
Spent some $$ on replacement parts for our Drier... the motor decided it has worked enough and gave up the ghost... I quickly chose to buy the parts and repair it after looking for new washer/drier sets that match, would have been over $3,000 for a new set :wtf:
Cost to repair was only $148 for a new motor, roller bearing kits, a belt, and a few other small parts that I wanted to replace due to the 15+ years of use |
