Thanks Jerry. Didn’t you also correct the speedo? Can you link the item you used for that? Thanks in advance! Amazon is loving me lately. I’m basically ordering all of that.

The shipping company called and said they’re delivering it on Friday around 6pm. They’ll give me a call a half hour in advance. I work Saturday so I won’t be able to start putting it together until Sunday afternoon.

I ordered this helmet on Amazon and this jacket and set of gloves used (not the helmet in the pic) for putting around town. It has armor in the chest, back, elbows, and forearms. The gloves have armor on the knuckles.

My coworkers are freaking me out about all their motorcycle crash stories involving former coworkers and friends so I’ll probably spring for something like the Aerostich Roadcrafter R3 that’s waterproof and can be worn over clothes. I sent in a sizing request today.

I totally missed this thread! Good stuff here Jerry! Can you give an overall review of it? If you posted somewhere else please point me to that. Really interested in reading your detailed opinion of it. Great looking ride!

I plan on doing a full review. I just wanted to get some miles on it before I do. So far I am really enjoying this bike. So much more road friendly than the Hawk.

Don't listen to those knuckle heads. lol They're just jealous they don't ride. ;) haha. I've been riding since the 70's. My one and only crash was on my first bike at the age of 18. That's only because I was acting the dumb a** and not paying attention. Just ride the bike like you're invisible and no one can see you. Because that's what it feels like some time. :hehe:

Well I discovered a few things about the new bike tonight. First off it has magnetic rubber tires. I picked up a nail the last time I road and had to fix a flat before I could ride tonight.>:( My neighbor just changed his roof and I found a bunch more nails on the road.

Now the good thing I found. The bike does come with a performance CDI like Venom advertises . I finally put 500 miles on the bike so did a quick WOT run. I took the bike over 10,000 rpm's 1st, 2nd and 3rd and never it the rev limiter. I shut it down when I hit 75mph (gps) in 4th. It was dark so didn't want to go any faster. The new LED headlights really light up the dark. Bike runs so much better now I got some miles on it.

I would go sweep up a bunch of nails and toss them back in said neighbors driveway.

The no rev limiter thing is a bit risky on their part. The wrong person could easily wreck a motor if they don't pay attention.

Jerry, can you confirm the speedo device we need is the Kawasaki one you linked?

Also, is the correct halogen bulb the H4/9003? I want to confirm before I order.

:edit: That’s awesome news about the CDI. Do you plan on raising the compression and porting the head on this bike? Do you have to run 93 octane on the Hawk? Our only ethanol free gas around here is 87 octane, but I’d like to work on the intake, exhaust, jetting, head, etc over the winter and see just how fast I can make the bike.

The U1 is a universal unit. Not sure why they have Kawasaki in the listing. That is the one I have. It can be installed on any bike. It's not plug and play. You will have to cut the sensor wire and use the supplied bullet connectors. Very easy to install. They have a few YouTube videos on how to install and calibrate. It even display you max speed.
The H4/9003 is correct. The bulb I have linked will require some nodding of the housing. Goid bright bulb but would look for one with a smaller diameter bulb.
I run 91 octane on my Hawk and 87 on the X22R. All ethanol free. I do plan on doing the head work on this bike too.

Just want to pass on some useful information on adjusting the headlight height on the X22R or even the X22 125cc. After replacing the headlights with the LED I noticed my headlights were pointing almost directly in front of the bike. I'm not sure if the stock bulbs did the same as I replaced the bulbs the following day. To adjust the headlights there is a hex head screw on the back side of the housing in the center. The first time I tried to adjust it the screw did nothing. So Saturday I figured i'd pull the housing out and shim it. Well it turns out you have to turn the screw counterclockwise to raise the height of the headlights. Completely opposite of what my brain was telling me. lol

Just an update to those who are concerned with top speeds. I spent the day riding yesterday. I took the Hawk out for a few miles Saturday morning around town. Made me realize how much low end torque the ported and decked head added. :D I need to do the same with the X22R. After lunch I took the X22R out for a long ride out in the country on the twisties. Man this bike is fun to ride. I hit a straight section of road and decided to see what she got. I hit 79 mph before I had to slow down for a curve. I only have a little over 600 mile on her and can feel it getting stronger as she starting to loosen up. I have a pe30 carb waiting to be put on for when I do the head work but may end up installing it before then just to see if it improves performance on the stock engine. Well so much for the chitchat. Another beautiful day on the bayou. Time to get out and ride. :yay:

Keep up the riding, the posts, and most importantly--the videos!
