Okay, so since I got it, I've thought the choke when UP: off MIDDLE: half and DOWN: full choke. Apparently it's the other way. Is that correct?

That means that my bike will cold start with the choke off, run with the choke off and after half throttle, it will not bog down I believe. I'll have to take it for another ride tomorrow to verify this. This is the way it sould function, correct?

Previously I was thinking that it would start and idle with the choke on, die at half or choke off. So I thought it was bogging down after half throttle with the choke on. If what I'm thinking is correct, since I had the choke reversed in my mind, my bike is running normally. Again, I'll have to test it out tomorrow to be sure. Didn't have a chance to ride it after I figured out I had backwards

I know my way around engines, carbs, etc... better than is this post is letting on. I'm tired and just want someone who knows 100% what they're talking about to verify this lol. So if the bike starts cold, idles, and doesn't bog throughout the rpm range with the choke off (all the way down), then it is functioning normally?

Down choke off, up is on. My problem is sometime not remembering to turn the fuel cock on:doh:

My God I feel stupid lol. I was in the shop for an hour removing the carb, tweaking the mixture screw, reinstalling and testing only to find out I had it backwards and none of it was necessary lol.

I've forgotten the gas and the killswitch a time or two lol

2nd opinion.....

Lever up = Choke on
Lever middle = half choke
Lever down = No Choke

Do you live in a warm climate? Choke is only need on my hawk when the temp is 50 or less. ( that is Fahrenheit for all our metric friends)

I live in Texas. It barely gets below 50. It's almost november 1st and we had an 86 degree high today

Okay guys, I made a carb disassembly and tuning video which you can find here for the stock carb. Motocheez made a similar one but I didn't fully understand what was going on and what needed to be done so I decided to dive in and make an actual disassembly video myself.

I met up with another Hawk 250 owner from youtube today. We did a valve clearance adjustment on his bike and tweaked the carbs on both of our bikes then went for a ride. I'll have a video up of that soon too

The rear sprocket on the Hawk, my friend is having problems with his and he was wondering why these just fall out. Are they supposed ot be welded in and someone along the line forgot to or is here an actual reason why these are loose like this?

No thats how there made. I have the same setup with my steel wheel. The snap ring holds the sprocket in place and those pins prevent the sprocket from spinning. My aluminum wheel has bolts instead of the pins but still has the snap ring.

My friend is wanting to have them welded in. Any problem with that? Or best to leave it alone?

Ya just leave it its the way it was made to work.
