Which Toyota is the intended carb from?

katoranger 07-13-2018 10:23 PM

Early 80s Corolla. New ones can be had pretty reasonable. The starter is not engaging. Probably need to clean it and check connections.

Still waiting on Vermont.

katoranger 07-23-2018 02:51 PM

We can officially move forward. I got a Vermont License plate.

Weldangrind 07-24-2018 11:11 AM

Awesome! I wish I had a work-around like that.

katoranger 07-24-2018 09:58 PM

You don't have to be a Vermont resident. Maybe the will send it to your US address.

Weldangrind 07-25-2018 11:57 AM

It is possible, but that's only part of it. I'd then have to try and explain to the border guard how I registered a vehicle in the US without an American driver's license. I guess the worst case is that I just sell the vehicle in the US and call it a draw.

hell there is a work around like that in sask but this sammi is a year too new to make it work. Anything older then 87 is platable as an antique and does not require inspection.

Color me dense here, weld, but why would you need a US drivers license to title and tag a vehicle?

katoranger 07-26-2018 09:23 AM

How about someone in the US register it and then "sell" it back to you.

Only if I found a good deal on a vehicle in the US that did not have a title. If there is no title, I can't cross the border with it.

That is totally workable.

Not much update. I have been working on cleaning up the shop so that I can move it inside for the winter.

katoranger 10-08-2018 03:28 PM

Yesterday we cleaned up the shop. Samurai went inside. Today we installed a used starter, changed oil, new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I hot wired the ignition wires and put a jumper wire to the starter solenoid. Sprayed some carb cleaner in the carb and it fired right up. Next I suppose I need to wire in some switches for ignition and start and also clean the gas tank. It didn't have a gas cap.

Great job

That’s a great feeling when you hear that first rumble.
