interesting bike from genuine motorcycles

All the info i can find on it is on scooterfile,,it has 3 writeups on it,, all exclusive to scooterfile ,,,first look,,first ride,,,details,,,,pretty good articles,,,i'm excited about this bike,,,and also i read (through scooterfile) that there's going to be extensive performance and upgrade parts available,,,,i hope genuine gets off their duffs about parts/service tho,,,,it may just be my local dealer but the parts availability is miserable (i own a 4t stella),,,and i get all my parts online ,, i do my own service so i'm not worried about that aspect of it but parts availability is a concern for me,,,i've been looking into crossreferencing Honda cb400ss parts but there are things like efi and a few other things propriatary to the bike,,all in all i'm looking forward to getting one,,and with a few judicious tweeks it can be a homerun for me

I was looking forward to seeing one at the ims in Los Angeles ,,,got busy with work and life and didn't notice that they had it in November instead of December like they've done since Moses was a kid,,,so I'm SOL,,,,, I love it when that happens

Here's a detailed article about the G400C by the same writer of the ride report. The more I read about this bike, the more I like it.

I agree; it's a very nice motorcycle. :) I've been watching the 400cc Shineray engine in that bike for a while; it's a good engine. ;)

I went down to the Denver Genuine shop yesterday to ask about the G400C, and it looks like a fairly limited release of the bike.

They're only getting a few in the first shipment in March or April. Buyers can reserve one of those and choose the color, but after that you have to pre-order on the next shipment. They aren't going to buy a bunch and keep them in stock.

The shop was friendly, but their focus is obviously in scooters not motorcycles. They didn't have any brochures, specs or pics of the bike from Genuine yet. I couldn't find anything on the Genuine site either, just a few articles on scooterfile and some blog posts.

I'm still interested, but I admit it took some of the wind out of my sails to see how little marketing effort is going into this bike when the launch is only three months away.

Thanks for visiting the dealer and reporting back to us. :) It's too bad this nice little motorcycle is not generating much support from the dealers. :hmm:

I have to say the dealer was disappointed too. They wished they had something to give me, but Genuine hasn't even sent out posters to their dealers. Kind of hard for the dealer to drum up preorders when they have nothing to show a prospective buyer.

The other thing was that - at least at this shop - they don't refund deposits ... store credit only. So if you reserve a G400C at Sportique Scooters and change your mind after it comes in, you're stuck with $500 credit at a scooter shop. It's a tough sell to order sight unseen, without even a brochure or final specs, even with the nice review on scooterfile.com

Thanks for posting the clarification. It seems the corporation itself is primarily responsible for the lack of support regarding the G400C. However, I do think the shop should refund your deposit if you change your mind about buying the motorcycle.

Can't argue with that. I'm about 90% of the way toward reserving the G400C anyway. It would be cool to have a nice retro to tool around town on. Would match my wife's TU250X too.

I'd have to sell my Vstrom, but I like my RX3 better anyway.

kohburn 01-05-2016 07:27 AM

what was their price?

detours 01-05-2016 04:31 PM

They're $4599 plus tax and registration ... all setup, assembly and delivery fees included.

I wouldn't order the Genuine 400 without a chance to ride it first. After they have been available for a year or so, I may accept good reviews in lieu of a test ride.

Hi

I have one of these, well, a Mash branded one, which I've had since July 2015. I love it, I out a few notes down here on this thread

The weather in the UK hasn't been particularly condusive to taking a nice loking bike out, but, I do ride it whenever I get the chance, my V-Raptor is the sacrifice to the bad weather !!
