Can't argue with that. I'm about 90% of the way toward reserving the G400C anyway. It would be cool to have a nice retro to tool around town on. Would match my wife's TU250X too.
I'd have to sell my Vstrom, but I like my RX3 better anyway. |
what was their price?
|
They're $4599 plus tax and registration ... all setup, assembly and delivery fees included.
|
I wouldn't order the Genuine 400 without a chance to ride it first. After they have been available for a year or so, I may accept good reviews in lieu of a test ride.

Hi
I have one of these, well, a Mash branded one, which I've had since July 2015. I love it, I out a few notes down here on this thread http://www.chinariders.net/showthrea...533#post202533 The weather in the UK hasn't been particularly condusive to taking a nice loking bike out, but, I do ride it whenever I get the chance, my V-Raptor is the sacrifice to the bad weather !! |
Thanks for linking to your post. It's nice to have a hands-on review from someone who owns the bike.
My wife has a TU250x and loves it. I love its light weight, but to me it feels physically/ergonomically too small when I ride it. I'm 5 ft 10 with a 30 inch inseam. Does your Mash Roadstar feel like a small bike to you? |
Hi
No, it doesn't feel too small, feels just about right, whereas the CF650, is a little high really, as I'm on tip toes when the bike is upright, and I'm 5'7", but I don't know how it compares in size & handling to the TU250. Sorry, not so sure that was much help ?? |
I like the look of that bike! I'll have to start saving and try to find a shop near me that will stock these!

I know SSR has a 450, but I'm pretty sure it's LC, I don't mind giving up a few HP for less parts to break on the trail. I'm also not a huge fan of the modern Japanese stlyle 4t MX engines, they can be quite expensive when things go wrong. |
Agreed. I don't want a high-strung LC motor for DS riding. I'd much rather have a variant of the old XR400.
|
To get a better handle on the size between the TU and the G400C, I went to http://cycle-ergo.com. They have a model of the Honda CB400SS, that the G400C is based on, so I loaded up that and the TU250X to compare.
The CB400SS is slightly bigger than the TU and looks like it would fit me a little better. If the G400C really is like the CB, it looks like a good fit for me. |
Are you ready to 'take the plunge,' and place a deposit for the bike? ;)

I'm still debating whether to get this or a used Yamaha FZ-07. I'm going to sell my Vstrom 650 and I'm just trying to decide if I want to replace it with something retro or modern (and fast). I'm actually leaning toward the FZ-07 this week, but I go back and forth all the time. |
"Are you ready to 'take the plunge,' and place a deposit for the bike?"
I need to see it on the showroom floor before placing a deposit. This is new territory for Genuine. |

That's unfortunate. :ohno:
Thanks for posting the update. :) |
I hope the Genuine 400 goes on sale before the Elio trike, for cryin' out loud!
|
I messaged Genuine on their facebook page for news on the G400C and got this response.
FRI 9:55PM What is the latest news on the G400C motorcycle? I was excited about it last fall, but haven't heard anything since. MON 9:07AM It is coming soon! We anticipate delivery in August or September. |
That's great.

Wow, looks like the perfect around town road bike to ride stock for a while and then use for a super fun cafe project - end up with a great size cafe bike with fuel injection!
|
I love the retro look ....
|
Yeah, that's a good looking bike. Notice it has 2 pipes but just one cylinder? there's one on each valve and the length of each pipe is slightly different to give the exhaust a unique note.
I really want one of these. I hope I can swing it if it gets here. |
This twin exhaust must be enabling the listed 29 hp , higher than its peers. Yet it's air cooled:hmm:
|
I would expect the Genuine 400 to perform about like the current Yamaha SR400. The SR400 has good torque but won't quite do The Ton.
|
That looks like an outstanding retro bike. The performance chart that they posted also looks very favorable. The only thing that I would add though, is for about the same money, a person can get a Royal Enfield, which has more "classic credibility". With that said though, the Chinese bike will out run the Indian bike probably buy wide margin.

Very interesting new bike for us to consider when it becomes available in the US.
|
I wonder what happened with this? There were articles out there saying it was coming in July of 2017. :hmm:
|
I was on ModernBuddy, THE Genuine motor co forum, this weekend and there is nothing new. I don't understand how the Hawk 250 can get EPA certified but the Genuine G400C continues to struggle with it.

Maybe 2040. That is the year when the UK and France plan to ban ICE engines.
