Yes Weld your right....I was really wanting to try it today...but I drove an hour away this morning for Baseball hats and blades for my John Deere....Got the John Deere ready to Mow the fields so we can play on Monday....but with the rain and rain tomorrow I doubt we play Ball on Monday.....so...Ill try to do some flex core welding tom....I gotta play some after doing all of this work....lol.....But at least the mower is ready for summer..

Weldangrind 03-18-2012 12:13 AM

I've never tried flux core, but I've read that it's smoky and has lots of spatter. Best to have a can of anti-spatter close at hand, and be sure to spray some into the nozzle. Please let us know how it works.

We're gonna need pics of the John Deere. :D

katoranger 03-18-2012 03:47 PM

Flux is all I have. I only weld outside so the smoke is not much of an issue. It does splatter alot though.

Someday when I get a real shop I will set up the gas.

TCCKSR 03-18-2012 03:55 PM

I've got an older Century MIG welder and use the shielding gas. Way nicer to work with and way cleaner welds (I need that as I am not a pro welder like CrazyglueNDfile is. :D )

Spend the few extra dollars whenever you buy a welder and get one that you can change the polarity to weld aluminum, uses sheilding gas and that you can use as 110v or 220v.

I appreciate willing young helpers (or willing old helpers for that matter  ). Bummer about the cooler line, but at least you found a replacement engine.

I'm not a pro, just a hack. I am becoming a pretty good grinder, though.

Bubbaz 03-18-2012 10:06 PM

Ahh man.....Ok Got the welder out after a 40 mile ride on the DR this evening.....it works....it splatters...lol...it didnt stick together...lol...I think I need to play with this thing more....tried using the adjustments on the inside panel.....oh well Im learning.....adjust this then that.....when this spool of flux wire is out Ill spring for the Argon and co2 mix,,,,then see what happens.

Oh Weld Im not posting any picks of the welds of today...lol

Weldangrind 03-18-2012 10:16 PM

I think that you need to reverse polarity when using flux core. Perhaps your instructions will detail that.

I believe so too. I checked it on my hobart to confirm it was set right. I have everything, but the bottle.

Bubbaz 03-25-2012 07:49 PM

Btw guys my Roane County Raider Golf team won the AA West Virginia State Golf Tournament

Weldangrind 10-09-2012 10:04 AM

That looks like a happy group of young men. Are you the coach?

Bubbaz 10-09-2012 01:51 PM

Yeah Weld Im the coach, Takes up alot of riding time in the summer, but its great times...

Weldangrind 10-10-2012 12:13 AM

It's really cool that you're guiding those boys like that.

Bubbaz 10-23-2013 10:28 AM

Hey Guys Im Back....Won another WV State Golf Title.......and Im aquiring a panther 110 rx-5 it has the battery box riped off of it... does anybody know anything about these... I guess it has an alarm system with a key fob....?????

Weldangrind 10-23-2013 07:58 PM

Welcome back!

I don't know anything about that specific model, but I'm sure we can figure it out. Another member (who is a dealer) recently posted info on bypassing the alarm. I'll see if I can find it.

Weldangrind 10-23-2013 07:59 PM

Found it: http://www.chinariders.net/showthrea...ighlight=alarm

Bubbaz 10-24-2013 06:24 PM

Thanks Weld!!! man thats fast service.....should have this atv early next week...Ill post some pics if I do...

Weldangrind 10-24-2013 07:51 PM

Happy to oblige. :)

Bubbaz 12-10-2013 12:13 PM

Didnt get the other wheeler...but Im having a issue with the Kasea skyhawk 50 2 stroke atv. Sold this bike couple of years ago and the guy brought it back cause it wouldnt start....well with a new starter and starter relay switch...it was back functional and running great...Fine right ...not...well while waiting on the fellow to come and pic it up, I would start it every day just to keep it running and check the starter....Well now it wont start, new plug and it seems that there is no spark....plenty of gas....due to a soaked plug after a few cranks...
now how can I check the coil?....single wire going in.. and the CDI box.....I did go through all the safety switches they are all functional....????

Weldangrind 12-11-2013 01:17 AM

Most China coil wires can be separated from the coil for testing or replacement. Just peel back the boot where the wire leaves the coil, grab the wire and unscrew it from the coil. You can also unscrew the plug cap from the wire in the same way.

Test the wire for simple continuity. Test the plug cap for resistance (can't remember, but I think it should be around 5K to 10K ohms). If you have another coil, perhaps you could compare readings between the positive, negative and plug wire terminals. I've found bad plug wires and bad coils on brand new units.

Bubbaz 12-11-2013 06:24 PM

Thanks Weld....This weekend ill pull it off and give it a once over....thanks again..

Weldangrind 12-11-2013 10:55 PM

In Doc's words, happy to serve.

Bubbaz 12-15-2014 10:12 PM

Been real busy finally calmed down some

Well that Kasea is still in the garage...I put a new plug cap on it and a new CDI box...when I checked the stator I got some numbers but from what I understand its a/c???
Oh almost forgot...My Raider Golf team won another State Golf title 3 in a row.
And the Yamoto is still trucking along!!

Bubbaz 02-11-2016 10:46 PM

Starter filled with oil

Hey Weld, have you ever tore apart a starter, mine is filled with oil....looking to find a seal to replace.

Weldangrind 02-12-2016 11:00 AM

I don't recall ever tearing one apart. I'm betting that you can find a decent replacement seal at a local bearing shop.

Bubbaz 02-20-2016 10:49 PM

Yamoto

Well I cleaned up the inside of the starter, put it back on, took the carb off cleaned it,, now its back motoring. Just got it all back together. its wanting to idle funny high then so low it quits.....not sure if maybe the throttle cable is a little bunched up or what...look into it tomorrow..
Oh bye the way,my golf team won their 4th WV AA state championship, back in October.

Weldangrind 02-22-2016 11:42 PM

Congrats on the championship!
