I'm glad to see you got the valves done. It's cake working on these compared to other bigger bikes. All RE's in history have been designed for owner maintenance and repair. My Model G is an absolute joy to wrench on. Nothing is hidden. That's a smokin' deal on the blinker package. |

I also love how comprehensive that little tool kit is. It's a feeler guage set, a couple of sockets, a ratchet, and extension away from being able to do almost every basic maintenance task on the bike. Those LED flashers are nice and bright, but they are definitely cheap plastic. The 4 pin relay is the real bargain as it's hard to find on its own. Eventually I may go with a set of Rizoma or Motogadget signals, and at least now I have the right relay for them. |
Yep. The relay is golden. When I converted my Scram to LED blinkers, no relay was available so I had to wire in resistors.

So....this thread has me looking at the RE bikes again. The Hunter 350 and Meteor are a bit easier to swallow price wise with both of them being just under 7K according to the RE Canadian site.

My local-ish BMW/RE dealer in St Louis is having a nice sale on new 2023 REs.
OTD prices: 350 Classic, $4000 350 Hunter, $3800 411 Scram, $4000 411 Himalayan, $4000 Int 650, $5000 https://www.gatewaybmw.com/inventory/new/Royal-Enfield/ This year is devoted to paying off my two credit cards, otherwise I'd snap something up. |

Still a much better option then the Navi or grom so there is that. The Dapper Grey Hunter starts at $5300 and the Meteor starts at $6800. The Scram 411 is around $6750. However the one major disadvantage of the closest dealer being 2.5 hours away is that it isnt as easy to just look at them in person and figure out which one i actually fit comfortably on. But all of them have gotta be bigger physically then the Navi and i fit on that one alright being 6'2. |

I just try to point that out for people because many people have the wrong idea of what the capabilities of those bikes are. The same thing was true with the original Himalayan too, and for a short time the used market was full of those things because people expected more from the than they were capable of.

It's been an interesting ride with getting these parts in. I got in my fender extender, and sump guard a couple of days ago.
I ordered a flyscreen for it at the same time as those items, but the seller never once updated the shipping info, so I had to open a ticket and wait until yesterday to file to get a refund. In that time I found another seller with the same flyscreen for less than half the price, and it took 3 days for it to end up in the states and will be delivered some time next week, hopefully Tuesday. It pays to shop around. This is the flyscreen, if curious. https://www.ebay.com/itm/196367240040 I also did run across a set of cheaper saddle bag stays for the Super Meteor that I think will suit my needs for my Shotgun. It only mounts to two points - the top shock bolt and a hole on the passenger peg/muffler mount bracket. They can only mount to the outside of the frame for the shock mount, which does make them stick out a little wider than I would like, but the mount locations are also not very square and need a little influencing, so I can tweak them to work. https://i.ibb.co/512dggG/20240507-213752.jpg I went ahead and ordered the first set of saddle bags I looked at in post 31. A little smaller than the other set, but their being water resistant is a little more appealing than the textile ones if my bike has to sit in some rain while parked at work. Again, it pays to shop around. These bags were $110 on Amazon, and $65 on ebay, from the same company. :ohno: The Bags https://www.ebay.com/itm/116083639223 I went ahead and ordered a set of the compact engine guards as well. That sorta rounds out my upgrades and accessories for now until he aftermarket can get an exhaust for it. Eventually I want to get a tail bag for trips, but there is no hurry for that. The same company that makes the bag I ordered makes this bag that I am considering. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...GM9K7GWGH&th=1 I really like this one, but it is also the most expensive. It does also have a lot of nice features to it https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Lu...9odWNfbXJhaQ== Other than that A waterproof roll top duffle of some kind as another possibility. |

I have bought some things from Ebay that came to me as amazon boxed items labeled as gifts.
The number of times I order from ebay that suggests stock is nationally located only for it to arrive in chinese cling film. I basically start with aliexpress and work my way around ebay and amazon searching the same item as to me its all just a smoke and mirrors chinese distrabution network with subsidized free shipping paid for by the western countries taxes... |

I was thinking the latest Templar shipment was on the Dali cargo ship. Perhaps, then rerouted from Baltimore to Charleston. :hmm:

Put my new flyscreen on. Mainly I wanted it to protect the gauge cluster as they are exposed and a good sized rock could damage them. As a side bonus, it does actually provide a little wind reduction too, mostly to the lower half of my torso, but it is enough to make highway speeds a little less tiresome. It doesn't look half bad either.

Oh man, That may work on the Scram........

Been a minute. I had some drama with registering my bike, mostly due to my State more than the bike itself, so I went almost 6 weeks without being able to legally ride my bike. I got that sorted, and then got busy at work.
I've installed a new set of slip-on's for it, made by a Company called Bykology, also called Rhino Racing. They are big and straight through mufflers that also come with dB killers. https://i.ibb.co/nQLb4R7/20240703-004052.jpg https://i.ibb.co/6Wvg84T/20240703-004038.jpg With the dB killers out they are definitely a bit loud. Not obnoxious, but definitely conspicuous, and they also drone a bit in my helmet at highway speeds. It sounds killer though. With them in, still a bit louder than the stock mufflers, but they are tamer. I can hear them when riding at highway speeds, but they are in the background and don't drone at all. They still make a nice throaty 270 degree twin bark when you get on the throttle. I am pretty much going to leave them in unless I am feelin a bit rambunctious and want to be heard. Otherwise, I ordered in a FuelX Lite to hopefully help with the closed loop fueling. I can tell this engine is tuned lean, and putting those mufflers on there definitely did not help. I also ordered some ceramic metallic Ferodo brake pads for the front to help bring some feel/bite into the front brakes. Still love this bike. |
That's one sexy bike.
