Your picture just doesn't answer enough questions for our crackpot armchair engineering team of engine swappers , can you get a better shot or ten of the blue circle area ?Just guessing ,but all the bikes I have with aluminum mounts are in the 1/4" range ,other than the cast aluminum ones which are thicker and in some places thinner

I was also thinking of mounts in the 1/4" range. I'd love to see a sketch of the mount you have in your head; I'm struggling to visualize it.

Weld and others that have welded to CR/CRF frames, what type of aluminum is it made from and what type of rod material did you use to tig weld to it???

build a rear mount that comes off the swing arm bolt that picks up both
rear engine mounts...
a tube over the swing arm bolt with 2 triangle plates to bolt to the motor mounts..

Thanks I have all that. MY question was more about the TIG welding itself. I can't seem to find any definitive answers for the aluminum alloy the 05 CRF450X frames are made of. Some say 7000 series aluminum and have had good luck with 4043 filler rod and other 5356 filler rod but in either case you have to be very careful.

welded a couple of alloy swing arms... always used 5356 filler rod
& pre heated the area...
one was welding the cast linkage mount area...
other was filling grooves left by the chain when the chain slider
wore though...

I was wondering if it would be strong enough to have just the head stay mounted, the two front (red) engine mounts, and the rear lower (blue) mounts mounted to the frame but leave the top rear mount (green) unmounted?

Otherwise I will be doing what others have done and make a C - type bracket for the back mounts that attaches to

the rear swingarm pivot bolt. It just wouldn't look as clean.

Can you use the original c-mount clamp ?from the zong? Your right about rotational force, so i think it is needed, when fitting my z250 to crfclone frame i just fitted those same highlighted bolts & still moved slightly,

Awesome project mate ill follow,
