I know someone who added one in their RX3 but honestly I’ve seen a lot of issues with them and most ADV riders bypass them. I have mixed emotions about having one. I even purchased a switch to make the mod but changed my mind.

The Kawi is much, much better than the RXR!
I don’t have to change the oil and filter so often and the valves only have to be adjusted every 15,000 miles!
Instead of doing maintenance on the RXR, I’m out riding my Versys!
No need to look back!

Okay. Good bye.

How many times did you forget to pull up the sidestand before get going?
If like me the answer is "none" then the switch is not really needed.

I watched a very experienced rider pull away with the sidestand still deployed. He was OK with a right turn, then a right sweeper but the left hand sweeper at 45 mph darn near killed him. Gary had lots of broken bones and might even have had some dislocations. I forget if he had a punctured lung. He got an ambulance ride to the nearest trauma hospital, about 3 hours away. The bike was well and truly busted up too. I think he needed a full year of rehab. He had intentionally bypassed the side stand safety switch so he could ride from Alaska to Key West without worrying about the switch. Bad move.

I'll keep the switch and be happy to have that little safety nanny working for me.

I have to admit I've taken off with the K stand down and even though it was a slow turn maneuver definitely woke me up. Felt like a car hit me at slow speed. Haven't dumped it yet but does make me want to put kickstand up before turning the key on, so I try and put k stand up immediately when I sit on the bike before starting it. rj
