Compared to the rates where I live, that's free.

Mine was $165 a year through an independent progressive firm. but i added extra under insured motorist and extra medical payments for safety reasons.

Nice. I didn't know that you could get the bike insured under other. The rates seem a lot better than the sportbikes I've had experience with in the past.

These prices are pretty legit!

Just wanted to throw in another piece of data for Progressive Insurance. Purchased the basic coverage for $75 per year, I used the Zongshen ZS-200GY since it was the closest in their list.
I also called about getting my actual bike (Hawk 250) listed on the insurance but won't know if this is successful or not until tomorrow, or is this even necessary? I just worry about getting pulled over and my bike make/model doesn't match what's listed on the insurance card. |
Did you ever get a response from them?
|
No MSO but I did get it insured through State Farm for $11 a month

tried geico for the TT250 but they wanted too much $$ - adding comprehensive with a 500$ deductible was 95$ per year (or 170 total). All I was really worried about was theft coverage. they wanted over 330 for both the TT and my versys.
Nationwide gave me the same coverage for just over 200 |
Insurance companies.
Back in October, I purchased a new Pitster Pro LXR 250F. I knew that being from NJ, getting it registered was going to be a hassle but had no idea that getting insurance on the bike was going to be so difficult. I contacted SIX different insurance companies and ALL six said that they'd have to get back to me because they'd have to research the bike because it wasn't in their computer system. Three responded that they couldn't provide me insurance while the other three said they could. When I spoke with representatives from the companies that said they could (Rider, Allstate and I forget the third!), I asked them how they came to their decision and all three said that they manually entered the bike manufacturer in their system. Sure didn't sound too difficult! All three companies quoted me the same price, $80/yr with minimal coverage. I've never had an accident or a ticket in over thirty years of driving/riding.
Regarding registration, NJ goes by a list of "Approved Motorcycle Manufacturers" and since Pitster Pro is not on there, I was denied at two different DMV offices in two different counties. I wound up having to go the South Dakota route but at least I'm registered and insured. |
I went the vt route with my hawk cuz ct can be hit or miss with the DMV. Although if you get stopped with the ND plates your tin should help with that.

Funnily enough, I have the renewal info from Progressive right here on my desk. I have roughly 20 years of riding experience, and the missus has none. She's going to get her permit this week, and her full license once she feels comfortable on her new bike. Here is the rundown of what I pay in insurance for our two-wheeled therapy devices:
2015 Suzuki DR650: Full Coverage with $250 deductable - $139/yr 1987 Honda Rebel 250: Liability Only - $41/yr 2016 RPS Hawk: Liability Only - 48/yr 2013 Suzuki TU250X (Mrs. Emerikol's Bike): Full Coverage w/$250 Ded - $75/yr The difference in full coverage versus liability for the Missus' bike was less than $25. We figured it made sense for her to have the full coverage since she's a new rider. There is a note on the DR650, so full coverage insurance is required. However, since I have that bike set up as my long distance machine I'll probably keep the full coverage on it after I'm done paying on it. The other three bikes are all owned outright. Hope this helps shed some light on the insurance quandaries with China Bikes. |
I have GEICO, 99/yr

CSC RX3 in San Antonio with Esurance
Esurance had to use a "workaround" because VIN didn't pull up anything. Manually entered and approved the next day. No real hassle. :)

All i have is 2 scooters 50cc Taotao. Grinnell mutual in Iowa. Liability only 72 year for both.

For full coverage, comp $250/collision$500 I have paid $100 for a year.. This is on a klx250 '09 and I am in Arkansas.
Those who do not list their state their information is meaningless. |
