Another lens off of ebay

I bought a set of valve guides for the Ural Gen 2 heads for $14 and change plus shipping from my adopted nieces' home country of Ukraine. That's less than I paid for the material I bought to make my own.

Ordered a new battery for the Hawk and the hardware from CSC to replace the swing arm bolt.

2 new chickens

Mrs.C saw a mouse in the house today. She's deathly afraid that it will crawl on her while she sleeps.

I had to buy a complete arsenal of mousie extermination crap. For one mouse.

Buster dog, who eats these things in the yard, is sleeping on the job.

The battery works. It iss a Mighty Max YTX5L-BS, 12V, 4ah, 80CCA. It is a little bit shorter (L to R) so I used some double sided Gorilla tape and some foam to fill the gap.

Not so much as bought as transferred. Moved the SiriusXM account from Mrs.C's Renegade to the F150. The only time it was ever used was when I was driving. We're planning a drive to Californy and I need tunes.

A SOG fasthawk, because it was $9 at the local bin store... the edge profile left a lot to be desired, but thats easily fixable...

Loitering through a flea market with the wife I spotted a few of these rolls on a table. I've had an idea of making my own right side cover Templar gasket for some time. However with the retail price of appropriate gasket material and the trouble to make them from scratch didn't seem cost-effective at all.
There were five rolls of this on his table. I whipped out a ten and said I'd tale them all. Guy said he had some more and just gave his whole box for ten, Thirteen rolls ought to hold me for a while.

Now the fun part. Getting the copy of the original right. Easy way would be to buy a gasket and copy it. Hard ways are one, scanning the actual cover or two, using a photograph and scaling it. I've done a bit of both successfully.
Second challenge is getting the stupid gasket material flat enough so the Cricut machine won't choke on it. I've already made some other gaskets successfully.
Third challenge, finding the time. Currently all in on trying to add a third bay to my two bay garage. Digging footings and pouring concrete literally now. Took a cool off break. Back to it.

Bought a new tool tube for the Hawk. Lots more room over the stock one. I bought it at Rural King for $10. It was cheaper than buying components to make one pic next to stock.

Literally strapped on the new tube. Covered the hose clamps with red shrink tube. Was gonna use black, but like the red strap accent. I'm happy with the results

Crossbar 09-22-2024 09:14 PM

Yeah, that turned out nice. Never thought about shrink tubing the hose clamps. I'll have to try that.

I had the shrink tube on hand and I wanted to cover the clamp. I didn't actually heat and shrink, just used it like a sleeve

TominMO 09-22-2024 11:23 PM

That is very cool.

Wonder if i can find something similar locally here. Been thinking of ways to add tool storage to my pick up now that i have the topper on it and keep them out of the cab. Wonder if a tool roll would fit inside one of those containers..

Aussie_in_MO 09-24-2024 03:25 PM

My dumbass read this as "tube tool" and I was hoping to see something to make installing inner tubes easier!

Those tubes are common on lawn equipment. I picked my tube up at Rural King for $10. I imagine Tractor Supply would carry something similar. I don't know what the Canadian equivalents would be for those stores

Good call! Hmmm off to the website i go.

Bunch of stuff. Only one of them fun, though Mrs.C might argue that.

The yard went to hell this year due to Mrs.C's and my health issues in the spring, so two bags of winter lawn fertilizer.

Tree wrap for the apple trees to keep the critters from munching on the bark...and to keep me from smacking the same with the mower deck.

New blower motor for the 4 car garage attic fan. That was a lot of fun to put in.

A box of M8x1x20 bolts from Mcmaster, though I only needed two. None of the hardware stores carried M8x1 bolts except in SS. I'll slam my head in a car door before I use SS bolts on anything again.

And...Arlo Guthrie's' "Alice's Restaurant" on CD. I wanted vinyl, but I don't like Arlo enough to spend fifty bucks on a vinyl album.

I did visit the local Harley dealer for the first time ever. They're closing their doors on Saturday due to too many Harleys and too many Harley dealers in the area. So, having a clearance sale. Saw three bikes that I like but I walked out with the same amount of cash I went in with.

Found a 2l goat milking machine for less than $20aud...Yes I'm turning into a farming gadget person.

Kinda urgent with 2 goat kids born less than a week ago...They are fine but the mother is over producing on 1 side...(goat farmer issues)

With the Prime membership getting poked again I also got to watch the final Grand Tour (Zimbabwe) episode...So not a bad deal.

Though Im tapping into 450MT savings so my "what did you buy today" actually needs to be what did I save up for in 6 months instead...

A night in an Army Corp of Engineers campground. Man, I really, really hate the campground registration system used now.
