I installed the smaller rim to increase my choice of tires, and to ease tire changing. The Suzuki DR650 employs a size 2.50-17 rim, which confirms the stock 3.00-17 rim was a bit too wide. ;)

Once my Shinko 244, size 5.10-17 tire wears out, I will be switching to a smaller, Shinko 244, size 4.60-17 tire. I couldn't do that with the stock rim. ;) The smaller tire will weigh less, cost less, and lower the saddle height a bit.

Yes, I still ride the other bikes. However, I spent most of my time enjoying the new RX3 this riding season. ;) The RX3 is a pleasure to ride on pavement. The windshield does a very good job isolating the rider from the wind. The U.S. Delphi EFI is very smooth, and responsive. The 6-speed transmission is excellent, and the clutch is superb. The bike has a low center of gravity, and is very stable at all speeds. The RX3 is a lot of fun to ride. :) The bike is safe to ride on the interstate highways, but I prefer to ride the freeway for only short periods of time. ;)

With all its standard equipment, the RX3 is a very nice adventure bike, and an excellent value. The cost of operation is also very low.

Tammy on the day I taught her to ride. What better bike to learn on than a pink XR100? She was a quick study and did well. Now the hard part is getting her to slow down!

She looks like she is having/had a great time.

Yesterday morning I rode the mountain bike up our local Badger Mountain. I know not a mountain by Spuds standards LOL. But, at 1540 feet, it is still a challenge to pedal a bicycle up it. It was nice to get on top of the fog that was covering the Columbia River Valley.

My grandson, Eli (aka The Energy Vampire) appears to be sampling an 'Adult Beverage'. Tis not but a Kiddy Cocktail I got him so he'd quit pestering my nephew about trying his Brandy Old Fashioned "because it had a cherry in it".

A nice day trip thats only about an hour from me. The monument sits high on a plateau. This is outside the Andes Mountains in the Eastern plains of Colombia. Between Villavicencio and Puerto Lopez in the department (state) of Meta. About 4 hours or so from Bogota. Many tourists come here from Bogota for weekends and holidays because of the hot weather. Historically this area has been more dangerous due to guerrilla activity. I know Colombia has many many problems, just like any other country, just some worse than others. I have been here 4 years and have never felt unsafe. I try to always be aware of my surroundings and not to put myself in an area or situation that welcomes trouble. I read an excellent quote on another forum, maybe ADVrider, they said ...There are a lot more good people here than there are bad people..and I truly believe that from personal experience. I was born and raised in Florida and spent 2 years in Colorado before moving here and I can say without a doubt the people here are much more tolerant of a visitor that doesnt speak their language than we are in the USA. I have never had an issue because of language, people are always polite and helpful. I am leery of gringo pricing so I try to shop around but most people are good about honoring local prices. If not I walk away with a polite thank you. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Colombia you wont be disappointed. Its a beautiful country with amazing people. Plus a $2.00 lunch that cant be beat. Every restaurant around offers fast lunch specials usually around $2 or $3 USD. Meat, rice, beans or potato, sweet plantain, salad, soup and fruit juice. Everything fresh and nothing from a can. Of course we have some real fast food, McDonalds style places where a burger with soda and fries will cost your about $7 or $8 USD which is crazy to me when you compare it to the fast lunch specials.

Speaking of food...

This is an example of our local pizza joint. Very reasonable for what you get. Cheaper than Round Table.

DaytonaMike 11-24-2015 11:35 AM

Damn!!! Ok Stop.... now that makes me hungry. I miss a really really good pizza. We have lots of pizza here but most places dont know what sauce is. Yes, pizza without sauce. We have a few decent places and just recently we got a Papa Johns and a Dominoes but not a huge fan of those. Theres a little mom and pop place that makes a great 8¨personal pizza loaded with toppings for $2 USD. The same pizza from Papa Johns with less toppings will run you about double that. Yes, im cheap!!
