i already have the mikuni vm26 and found the right jetting and needle position for my area . just was hoping the pumper carb had enough of a throttle response and low end torque improvement to spend 50 $

None of them are really better as they are all basically the same carb design. The VM26 has a slight edge because it uses mikuni jets, and many owners can help give you an idea of a proper jetting setup for your bike.
