I decided to weld on a timing extension. The case of the flywheel did not mind at all . I did not have gas ,so in used flux core on the mig . I needed a way to smooth it to a true radius and missed a craftsman 101 6 x 18 metal lathe for 300 dollars and 4 miles from my house . 3 Reasons , not owning a truck , being lazy tired after work Thursday and Friday, then thinking I had time to wait for my wife and her Saturday chores . before I took her ford edge from her . I ended up putting a abrasive disc on the table saw and careful fence setting to grind the radius. Not the most beautiful timing tab , but the bike runs ,with the carb still at this point . So about the extra timing with the carb in place . The bike seems to rev freely and pull harder in all gears . With my current gearing of 15 and 45 18inch rear dirt wheel. riding at 7000rpm it still has good pull with no complaints to 8000 @60mph across the board it feels perky .
 Oscilloscope will tell me if the timing tab is good enough for the Fuel Injection .

Very resourceful! I was thinking that you might also be able to do that with an abrasive bit in a router table, but your idea worked well.
Bummer about missing the lathe.

You are correct, Racer. Here is a link to a throttle cable for the Zongshen 200GY-2 sold at Taobao.
 http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=1618768836 Conversely, the Yamaha TW200 uses two throttle cables, a push cable, and a pull cable.

Thanks to spuds quick throttle cable link ,It is on the way . This weekend I decided to start putting things together . CDI will be DC with no timing , factory was AC CDI with integral timing . On the fuel injection ,the control module will be charge of timing . pics bike stripped down , what's coming off and what's going on .

Was there a recommended O2 sensor position? What are your air filter options?

Fuel tank setup
New petcock to be installed and an extra vapor vent . The original hole in the tank was not fully opened , I am not sure how the oe petcock even worked . I used a 4 flute End Mill bit chucked in a drill to remove the extra plastic . I found a 3/8 barbed 1/4 pipe thread fitting for the vapor vent ,then drilled and tapped the tank to 1/4 pipe thread. I added plastic tubes to get the vents to the top of the tank . small one vent the petcock filter bowl and the larger is petcock vapor separator. I will cut the tubes just below the gas cap. |
