Hawk 250 ignition problem after fuse blown

Hello fellow hawkers,
I broke my ignition switch and when hot wiring it I burned a fuse. I replaced the fuse but then bike wouldn't start. I also cut into the kill switch and the problem is not there. I ordered a replacement CDI on Amazon but am not sure they work and I broke my original CDI screwing around with it. Any tips?
Thanks

Turns out there was a short in the black wire with white stripe between the ignition switch and the CDI.

These CDI's and ignition parts off Amazon verified working on the Hawk:
