The Damn Jeep

That's its' name, The Damn Jeep. An 05 Wrangler Unlimted, or LJ for short. AKA, Long Jeep. My wife wants to run errands in it, she says, "Let's take the Damn Jeep." I have to drive because she never learned to drive stick and refuses to. When I have to work on it, it's 'The Damn Jeep'. It really earned the moniker this summer.

It needs new front axle U-joints. Again.

Replaced the rear main seal.

Replaced valve cover gasket.

Replaced coil pack.

Cats failed.

AND, after I did the above, the oil pan started leaking. As Jeeps and rust go together, I guess it was inevitable.

In a positive light, I guess it's good for another 16 years and 106,000 miles. And, there is quite the Jeep community in my neighborhood. Everyone knows who owns the black LJ.

That's crazy. Maybe it's just a rust issue that we don't have here in CA? I know plenty of older Jeeps running around here that have had very few, if any real problems other than general maintenance.

I had a damn Jeep, a '66 CJ-5 which ran perfect when I had it. My son wanted it, so I gave it to him 3 or 4 years ago. Now it's sitting rusting with a burned up wiring harness and no brakes.

Winter salt and summer mud. Since 2010, when I bought it, it has spent a total of two nights in a garage.

I would think that if Mrs C is willing to ride in a sidecar, she would be open to driving a stick.
-You may go through a few clutches before she gets the hang of it.
