Interesting information in the China Moto World article.

USB power output in display to power digital devices.

12V car charger port (this may only exist on full luxury model as tested)

Local China price is ~$3,600. We get for similar including shipping to USA. And first shipment buyers are getting a smoking deal.

Plans are under way for a 450cc version RX-3. That should stop the remainder of the internet trolls who whine that a 250cc is too small for USA interstate system.

Every day of waiting is torture. Only about 60 left before I am riding the super speedy blue one!

How is everything in Wally World? When I lived in North Idaho, I traveled occasionally to Walla Walla; it's a nice town.

The link is working fine for me.

I agree. I really didn't need another motorcycle, but I couldn't pass up the early adopter price of $2,895. The RX3 is regularly sold for less than the MSRP in China. Nevertheless, we early adopters are getting a smoking deal.

The cigarette lighter and USB power ports are not standard equipment on most models. However, it seems you can easily install them as options.

It's hard to know if, or when, a 450cc version of the RX3 will ever materialize. However, Zongshen is certainly working on a 450cc engine.

Well looks like we only have 3.17 gal of usable fuel. Over at the CSC blog it's explained that 4 liters is recommended to keep the fuel pump cool. So out of our 16L only 14L till the bike shows empty. Of course you can use the other 4L, you will just increase the risk of burning the pump up. Oh well I always carry a couple of 1.5L bottles of fuel anyway. I suspect a fully loaded RX3 will now have a range somewhere around 180 miles when crushing at 65mph. This is the first disappointment I've had with this bike.

I've been mulling it over since I posted yesterday. My lighter, less powerful XT225 vs the heavier, more powerful RX-3.

My Royal Enfield Bullet is a 500cc thumper. It's rated at 27 h.p. at the crank and weighs 414 lbs (dry). I took that on a few multi-day, loaded down trips last year and I remember it pulling 60 mph OK even on our mountain grades and with head winds.

That's a little heavier than the RX-3, but only 2 h.p. more. So, I think the RX-3 would still be a performance upgrade compared to my XT225.

Of course, the RE has 30 ft/lbs of torque compared to the RX-3's 17 ft/lbs.

More food for thought.

Cheers,

Dan K.

P.S. Thanks for the welcome messages.

Looking at the fuel pump assmbley I don't belive the fuel pump is anything significently diffrent then what comes on any typical fuel injection system. My Triumph has a very similar setup and I've never had any issue with occasionally running (see link) it close to empty. I'm guessing the Zonshen recomendation errors on the conservative side. Also note the pump will set very close to the bottom of the tank the fuel path is looped so there is always constant flow through the fuel pump.

I agree with 3banger. I don't think occasionally riding the RX3 with less than 1 gallon of fuel in the tank will damage the fuel pump. I consider that last gallon of fuel as a reserve, and I rarely ride very far on reserve fuel.

I think the operation of the Zong's fuel gauge is a nice feature, rather than a deficit. When the fuel gauge reads empty, you are operating on the reserve capacity of one gallon, and you have been alerted to fill the gas tank as soon as possible.

I believe Honda stopped supplying tool kits with many, if not all, of its motorcycles.

I'm not concerned about this either. I feel that Zongshen is being up front about the fact that the pump may have a longer life if we don't run the tank almost dry between every fill up.

Things in Wally World ok.
That OOH EEH song sure brings back memories.
Sold son's xt250 today and selling mine hopefully tomorrow, Which opens the door to getting an Rx3.
Anyone know if the $3495 ones will come in at the same time as the $2895 shipment in Feb/Mar?
Spud , we need to ride them to this Hell's Canyon ADV gathering. Man up.
