Your ZS250GS has essentially the same engine as my ZS200GY-2. Zongshen increased engine displacement in your bike by increasing the cylinder bore. Therefore, the bottom end of your engine is identical to mine. I have ridden my ZS200GY-2 for 60,000 miles, so I know this Zongshen engine is reliable.

I recommend the Mikuni main jets for you bike. You can find the information by searching the "Zong Sticky" located at the top of the Dual Sport Forum. I'm sure you will get better engine performance after your carburetor is properly jetted for your altitude, exhaust system, et cetera.

However, I'm going to discourage you from riding your ZS250GS on the freeways of Arizona. I don't think any, 250cc Chinese motorcycle has enough reserve power to travel safely on limited access highways.

Heheh how very wise about freeways. Mainly I want to ride out of valley to jerome and sedona.. via secondary freeways and to be able to ride around 60 steady and not worry bout over heating her.. I have seen over on the tw200 forum a member created a cooler kit I was thinking about.. what are your thoughts on that?

Seems like just yesterday I was riding it when it hit 40,000 miles!

I'm not trying to be negative, but I think your secondary freeways are still more dangerous than the freeways in many parts of the United States, including my part of Idaho. Perhaps FastDoc will relate his experience riding a Zong on the freeways of Eastern Washington.

I think the TW200 oil cooler might be a nice modification for your street bike.

However, if you change you engine oil every 1,000 miles, and keep your valve clearances adjusted, you certainly don't need the oil cooler. I think the oil cooler definitely creates vulnerabilities for an off road motorcycle.

It was in August, 2011, when you witnessed the Zong reach the 40,000 milestone.

I was run over from behind and could have been killed by a teenage girl texting on her cellphone. I was going about 65 when she hit me, going MUCH faster.

Don't ride a little CB on the highway. The risk/benefit ratio is bad.

When I took it home from his house,( where he had a brand new ninja 250 sitting next to her) she didnt even go over 55 with it cutting out around 5000rpm...

excessive spark plug gap (+/- .14)
broken front blinker mount(fairing cracked)
exhaust crushable washer not seated fully

stay tuned a few more upgrades are on the checklist..
air filter pods..
needle jet upgrade
front and rear sprocket ratio change (I want it to go around 80 so I can get on the freeways)

You've made excellent progress. Please remind me; was it the valves that were the major issue? Was it simply a matter of cleaning and lapping them?

No lapping.. juat a valve to rocker tappet clearance adjustment. I think since it was still in break in(1000miles) it was just time to adjust

Example.. highway 89 in arizona is what I wanna be able to hit.

You inspired me to try the Plastidip. I looked at some info online and it seems interesting.

I recently scored a new plastic kit for my YZ at a great price and installed it last night. The plastic I replaced was in good shape and only about 2 years old, if that but was showing wear. I can't resist a deal, less than $80 for a brand new complete set :-)

So I'm going to try to Plastidip my old set in Yamaha(like) blue and keep it as a spare.

If I like it I may Plastidip clearcoat my new set to protect it on the trail.

I'll post pics in a seperate thread if there is interest in seeing the work.

Where did you get the deal on the plastic kit? I am looking for such a deal for my CRF250X.
