What gearing do you have? I self limit to 75mph due to the tires and front end shake that might be the front fender. I thought the cg300 jug was only 250cc

yes the big bore is nominally stamped with 300cc...reality is it just makes it 250cc
the CG250 is actually a 230...

FYI, the Templar 250 series have the ZS172 FMM 249cc OHC engines (-3A is the 5 speed, and -5 is the 6speed). Lifan KPX250 is another example. Same engine, a 249cc engine.

Over and over again, you see various manufacturers and retailers calling the ZS167 FMM (229cc engine) a 250! You have to look into the specs. Apparently, "300cc" motorcycles have the same issue!

The difference is about 5 horsepower (14hp versus 19hp), though minor mods can make these 15hp and 20hp engines.

The 229cc CG clones are great engines, and as long as you know what you are getting, it's OK. I own one in my Bashan Storm. It's counterbalanced, and runs GREAT!

16 front sprocket on a 40 rear.

The cg300 jug is indeed a 249.9cc. I have no reason to ever go freeway speeds on this bike myself. The fastest I ever need to cruise is 55-60mph. Two lane highways and rural roads. I mostly ride city and the aforementioned.
