Fender update. One advantage of ordering stuff from China via eBay is that when you open a dispute they just give you a full refund because the shipping costs more than the item. I have another on order from a US supplier. Hopefully it's a little straighter

I have did that before,.and on the cam, and roller tip followers that I ordered, They never showed up, and the seller refunded my money, and then they showed up a few weeks after I was refunded. I'm glad too, because it wasn't very good quality, and the cam gear didn't even have a timing mark. You bike is looking good Dan.

It's rather dusty and scratched up. It's had a mildly rough life whilst in purgatory.

The rest of my parts might just be here by Saturday. I also ordered a different headlight housing that is a bit smaller front to back to see if I can't move it up more. This one is so deep that it hits the lock cylinder and pushes against the cluster wires a bit.

I have been ignoring my TBR7 since I got my Hawk legal, and today, I figured I would roll it out, and put the brace on the forks, I had to trim it down a good bit, and put it in the vice, and do some minor bending, but I got it on, and during the process of putting my SpeedO cable back in it's wire bail, I noticed that a flange on the triple tree was mashing into it pretty good, and had ground through the plastic sheath, and was trying to flatten the inner steel sheath. I see on the Facebook sights that several have speed O cable issues, and maybe that's why. I looked at my brake line, and it's not damage, but routed wrong . According to looking at my Hawk, it's supposed to have a wire loop up on the backside of the triple tree for it to run through, but it's missing. I went for a ride a while ago, but it's so windy, I didn't go far. I know the forks won't twist as easy now because, before I did the brace, I could put a little pressure on the wheel with my knee, and grab the handlebar, and actually see them twist. I never really had any issues with the handling of the bike though, and it was extremely windy today, so I couldn't really appreciate any difference it may make, but it's on now, and I will probably end up making one out of UBolts for the Hawk. They have 4 1/2 "UBolts at Tractor supply for about $10.00 each, but I don't know yet if they are deep enough for the Hawk's larger tire. I went ahead, and ordered a 295 mm rear shock, but don't know whether I'll use it on the Hawk, or TBR7, and use the adjustable shock from the TBR7 on the Hawk. I hate to drop the Hawk down too far, but I went to thinking that if the rear is lower, then I can slide the forks up a couple inches in the triple tree, and that would possibly make them more difficult to flex.http://

Sorry about that little picture, I must have sized it to 200, instead of 1000, and I didn't remove it because I was not sure which one it was.

According to my tracking my exhaust and windshield should hopefully arrive today, maybe tomorrow. The muffler by this Saturday. If I get a chance to install it is a different question.

Gift has arrived.

I tried to eyeball the fitment. It's tough to tell honestly. The KPM and KPT it was made for don't have frame tubes under the engine, so the exhaust pipe and frame are going to be very close together if they don't actually touch. Fingers crossed I can make it work. If not, I have an alternate plan.

Well I hope it works out. That will give an option for exhaust on a few other hawk like bikes.

No matter what, it's not a bolt on affair. A muffler bracket needs made, and the tab for the mid pipe mount likely needs cut off, or at the very least bent to suit some sort of clamp on the lower frame tube (my initial plan).

Well, the China men are 0 for 2 on parts ordered from overseas. Got my new smaller oil cooler in. One I specifically ordered with a protective cover and screen on it, and of course it is missing the cover. I think the world would end if they could ever manage to get these things right. It's almost ridiculous.

I hope your life is normalizing for you a little. I know how it is to lose interest in your bike. Life and life’s problems can get in the way. I’m much happier when I’m all in on my Hawk and an old 1978 Honda CB400T I’m trying to restore. But I guess it may be impossible to keep a high interest in one thing year after year.

You have done so much to help me get started in biking. I got my first bike - a Hawk 250 - and was able to set it up and start riding with your help. Got it registered in my state and got a full motorcycle endorsement. I feel I couldn’t have done it without all the help you’ve given me and all of us in this forum.

Just wanna say “Thank You!!!” for your tireless support of our hobby/passion.

Most of the work I put in was for that very purpose, as with the many other members here who also provided a lot of the information compiled in my guide I pieced together. It was a team effort, and still is. The bikes may change, but the basics remain the same.

I like that pipe Dan! At least that should work out...

I bought a new head for the 172FMM- pictures showed valves, camshaft, internals. Just over $180 bucks!
But I received an empty head!!

AliExpress has this "policy" that BUYER is responsible for sending it back, THEN you get reimbursed after return is acknowledged by the seller. The package has been in China for two weeks now! NO communication from the seller after about 6 messages sent.

I may even get a chance to install the darn pipe this coming weekend too. Just one thing after another, or the weather being unseasonably cold and snowy for this time of year.

That exact same cylinder head issue actually happened to me too when I first tried to get a second head to port for my Hawk. Thankfully I bought from a US supplier through ebay who just drop shipped the head and it must have been mislabled or the wrong box. Got sent an assembled one quickly.

I try my hardest to order off of ebay before I will resort to Aliexpress. Unfortunately, sometimes you can't find what you want on ebay, or the prices are just too high. This exhaust was a case of the latter. Even with the muffler I ordered my entire exhaust is still half the price of the ones I was finding on ebay at the time.
