Me too. The side covers on the vtx are lose due to the rubber failing. Don't want to lose $80 covers that are getting hard to find. Hawk is't as bad yet but they were pulling apart when i took the plastic off.

I am just sick of having to replace them after removing the side plastics 2 or three times because the rubber ripped or got cut, or both.

For anybody feeling really froggy and wanting to go for Honda OEM goodness.

The Ovals are 83551-300-000. $5 each
The Round ones are 83504-GE0-000 $3 each.

So for twice the price as the aftermarket kit from Amazon you can have true OEM Honda grommets. Personally, the Show Chrome brand grommets are of equal quality for half the price.

Just figured I would update this thread now that some time has passed. My side panels get installed and removed on a regular basis because I can't stop tinkering with something. Tank grommets are still in perfect shape, as are the round ones in the back. Well worth the money spent.

That's a key point, I've had many Hondas (still an old CB650 and Hurricane now) and most of them took that oval grommet. I bought a couple OEM packages a decade or better ago, and the quality is good. A little pricey but well worth it if someone is going to be doing this type of stuff.

Another thing I always have lots of is Plastifix. I've actually made the nipple thing that pops into the grommet, and after painting nobody would ever know the difference. Amazing stuff.
