Brand new Tao Tao 125d atv turns over but wonthe start

I am hoping someone here might have an idea of what I am doing wrong. I put the machine together last night. Tonight I put some non ethanol fuel in it, turn the gas petcock to on, put the choke on, switched the kill swith to run, put in nuetral, hand brake on, foot on the brake, hit start button and...... it didn't start. I tried for about 10 minutes and gave up thinking it may have to do with the remote, or something else simple I'm missing. If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.
