...another Zong Topic.

I purchased a 2006 Zongshen Sierra motorcycle about 2 months ago or so. One of the first questions I asked, if you can recall, was what the "1000³" stood for on the engine case. After a couple of quick responses, I was informed that it was the oil yield for my particular engine.

I have recently noticed something interesting. A friend of mine has recently purchased a 2006 Zongshen Sierra motorcycle, as well. It is being stored at my house as I fix a few of the things that are wrong with it, as it was purchased used locally. Anyway, the point of the story, I was changing the oil in it a couple of days ago and realized his engine case was stamped "1300³". 8O

How can two otherwise virtually identical motorcycles have such an oil capacity difference? I also ask fellow Zong owners to check your bikes and see if you have any other number stamped on your case.

its definitely still oil compacity, I would put in 1.4 quarts in the the one that says 1300 cm^3

for an example my friends banshee has 2000cm^3 and it takes just over 2 quarts.

what years are the two bikes?

Spud will be a good authority on this, but I'll be surprised if it should have more than a quart / litre.

I agree with you, WG. My Zong takes 1 quart of engine oil, and I believe it has the 1300 cm3 mark on the engine. I will verify the engine marking tomorrow, and report back.

My 250cc Yamaha YZ takes 1.14 Litres of oil with a change if you remove the oil filter (everytime) and that is with oil in the frame as well. I can't imagine a 200cc motorcycle requiring more than that, which most likely does not have a 'frame cooler' design.

My Zong takes 1 quart of engine oil, and I have verified I have the 1300 cm3 mark on the right side of the engine.
