Painting A Hawk

Just wondering if any of you Hawk riders has attempted to paint their plastics to make it a different color.

I'm not a Hawk owner, but I have been painting my Zongshen Sierra 200 for about seven years. At the moment, I am also painting my Zongshen RX3.

I highly recommend Krylon Fusion spray paint. It doesn't require a primer, fuses to the plastic, coats well, comes in a nice variety of colors, and is inexpensive.

You can buy Krylon Fusion spray paint at Walmart, Ace Hardware, Fred Meyer, and many auto parts stores.

Awesome thanks Spud. I was looking at the Krylon Fusion Paint. Saw it at my local Walmart. They had it all on sale for $4 a can.

After all these years, I discovered blue was just as fast as orange. About a week ago I repainted my Zongshen Sierra blue.

I am currently repainting my Zongshen RX3. It will be blue, as well.

Looks like that Zong has a Yamaha Engine. Said Yamaha on Engine side cover.

You are very observant, and correct. After 70,000 miles I decided to retire my original Zongshen engine, after submerging the entire bike in a mud pond. I found a used, Yamaha XT225 engine on eBay, so I transplanted the engine into my Zong. You can read about the engine swap at the following thread.

I was not knocking your bike. I really like it. Where would a person find one like it?

No problema.

Unfortunately, my Zongshen ZS200GY-2 (Sierra 200) is no longer being manufactured. I'm glad I bought the bike, new-in-the-crate, in 2008. It is a great little motorcycle.

Been looking at the Hawk 250. These appear to be a decent bike. Have not decided for sure just yet. Need more good reports on them before I make up my mind.

Don't forget, also pick up a can of the fusion gloss clear over the color.

Now I see how you racked up all those miles. Sitting still it's going 9mph.
