Short but Sweet!

Not a CB trip but about a month ago, I got warning that a friend of ours was taking a road trip and coming through our part of the country, from Pennsilvania.
Just like here, "Buff" is someone I've known from another internet bike site...about 10 years now. He has an older Vic, like mine, but also a Beemer he picked up last year. Of course, Mrs. 2LZ and I made him welcome at our humble home and joined part of his adventure.

Here's Buff and Mrs 2LZ, enjoying some adult refreshments, Monday evening after he arrived and settled. We got him fed, showered and bedded down to leave the next morning.

Here's the first quick stop at the bottom of the Auburn Canyon, just north east of Sacramento. The American river is really roaring for this time of year here. No doubt in my mind, Doc has ridden many of these same roads.

After breakfast, here we are in front of the historic Georgetown Hotel.

Stumpy Meadows. Between Georgetown and Icehouse. Not sure of the elevation but it was snowed in here about a month ago. Great fishing here.

Here's Buff on his decked out Beemer. We're almost the top of the hill near Union Valley Res here.

Here's another buddy, Dan, coming over the top from Icehouse, heading down to HWY 50 at Kyburz. Looks like someone got awful angry at that stop sign!

Once we hit 50, we headed east and went up over Echo Summit to South Shore Lake Tahoe. Here's Tahoe appearing in the distance. Note the orange cones. In the Sierra Nevada, there's only 2 seasons. Snow and Construction.

After we parted company with Buff and Dan in South Shore, we headed back and took the 88/89 cutoff and headed southwest toward our trailer in Pine Grove.
Here's one example of the literal 100's of natural, seasonal streams we passed, from the mountains, heading toward the rivers. This was next to us while stopped for another construction zone. Luckily, the waits were always short but the chill coming from this was very welcome!

Here I am and my TC at Caples Lake on HWY 88. 7800 feet elevation. Still frozen! It was about 85' out here.

Here's Mrs 2LZ and her Kingpin overlooking Bear Creek Res further west on 88. It was a beautiful day but it was HOT most of the day.

Finally! The Taj Majal! A cool shower, some cold water and a few Barley Pops and all was good!

It was just under a 300 mile day but when it's all canyon twisties and hot, it wears on you. Only had one deer jump in front of me and had plenty of time to plan, so all was good!

Thanks for the pics!

Keep your eye on Buff; he's pretty cuddly with Mrs. 2LZ.

Thanks for posting the great photos, 2LZ! The first day of summer was the first day we reached a high temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit in East Idaho! 8O Enjoy the heat; summer is fleeting.

I'll continue to say it, even with all the political nonsense and population/illegal/economy issues, Kalifornia is STILL about the most beautiful and best place to live in the country. PROVIDED you DON'T live in or near a city. Especially, SF Bay Area, SD or Lord forbid, LA.

No doubt in my mind, Doc has ridden many of these same roads.

You bet. 8)
