hi-bird 250 piston question

I own an '07 hi-bird 250 and it's almost spring time. The piston is wore out in it and I'm having trouble tracking down a replacement. Does anybody know if there is a close match from another bike?

I am leaning toward the new motor also. Have you pulled the top end?

You will need a gasket set also. Is the bike smoking? What is actually wrong with the piston?

If you have it out and can take measurements we may be able to cross over parts from something else.

I doubt these are what you need but I think the parts are out there you'll just have to keep looking.

oregonvintage.com scroll down the page about 2/3rd's of the way.

More exact engine info would be helpful there must be numbers/markings on it.

Looks like about $70 for a piston and rings for the 250 scooters.

Ok I got some specs on the piston finally. 69mm bore, 17mm wrist pin, and the deck height from the center of the wrist pin is 24.5mm.

I found a match in the wiseco catalog http://www.wiseco.com/Catalogs/Power...eteCatalog.pdf that is a rather large pdf file. It matches with an LT300 king quad. It runs a little lower on the compression 8.9:1 instead of a 9.2:1? of the hi-bird. I'm wondering if the oiler ring on it would make it oil different as I can't find a real good picture of LT's on the net.

Don't the 2 numbers on the circlip (ex. CW17) mean the wrist pin would have a 17mm diameter?

I found a match for the hi-bird.. the piston from an suzuki king quad 300, has to be .020" over which is 69.00mm. It has the right wrist pin size (17mm), deck height, and weight. The great part, no boring out the cylinder. It fits with no modifications whatsoever! Hope this information helps someone in need.
