zongshen 200 gy 2

Hi all,
Been away for a while, still got the Hongdou 230 now with the 125cc motor. I've found a Zongshen Seirra 200 gy2 motor, (Yamaha TW clone?) I'm quite happy that I can get the motor into the Hongdou frame, what I'd like to know is how different are the electrics? Are Yamaha TW electrical parts interchangeable? TW's are rare here in the UK and Zongshen Seirra's are unheard of. All I know about the motor at the moment is there's something wrong with the generator/ignition pick up.

Thanks,
Jonathan.

Very interesting project. I'm sure Spud will be able to answer more but we'd all like to see pictures. 8)

The 230 is a Honda clone, the ZS is a Yamaha clone. I see some fabrication in your future. Engine mounts, exhaust, etc.

As far as the electrics I don't see a big problem but the CDI of the ZS is different than the Honda/Lifan style unit.

None of us have done a project like this one before. You are blazing a new trail.

The Zongshen 200GY-2 engine is a close copy of the Yamaha TW200 engine. However, the Zongshen electrical system appears different from the Yamaha electrical system.

You can probably install the Yamaha stator, pickup coil, and CDI unit. However, I'm confident the Zongshen parts will be much less expensive. If you search the internet, I believe you will find a vendor in the UK for Zongshen parts.

Thanks for the replys gents, I have no problems with cutting/welding/fabricating. Since the first post I've been doing some home work on parts, they aren't as hard to find as I first thought. It looks like the main engine electrics are the same as the original Hongdou motor, which in turn are like nothing I've seen on any other Honda clone Chinese bike. I'm not %100 sure what I'm going to do, it runs like a Swiss watch with the 125cc motor, but a little slow, and I'll soon be into some serious house renovation.

Jonathan.
