My old TMEC 200--I bought it used with unknown mileage--put 10k or so miles commuting. Bought a new TMEC 200 (the one I own). Started commuting on it. After a few hundred miles, same problem as yours; someone happened to post about his bike acting the same, and he fixed it with a new CDi. My bike was stranded at work; I took out my old CDi from my old bike, threw it in, and she started right up. I think it has to do with quality control, rather than unusual problems as that bike gave me another 10k miles.

That could be a failure mode of the CDI. More commonly, a failed CDI will still allow the bike to start, but it won't rev properly.

I've had bad CDI's, bad coils and bad coil wires.

Weld ,when any of those three failed ,how long before the carb overflowed ?his carb has a stuck needle or float at the very least as he has stated 15 seconds and he is smelling gas and the carb is overflowing .

I missed that detail. When you put it that way, it doesn't sound like an electrical problem. The carb should never overflow if the needle and seat are functioning properly.

I got lucky--when mine failed, the bike would 'almost' start. The 'lucky' part was that someone with a Skyteam had the exact same issue here, which was being discussed, and it ended up being his CDI, which solved his bike not starting. I borrowed the CDI from my old TMEC, and that solved the issue. Excalibur Motorsports sent me a replacement CDI under warranty a few days later
