Hi everybody.
I know this was an old post but I have some more info on another cause of this issue.

My bike was having the same problem, and it was due to valve clearence to small, and that didn't allow the engine to develop enough power on low RPM to start running. After servicing and setting clearence to 0.06 intake, and 0.08 exhaust, everything came back to normal. (Consider I live in Colombia, in Medellín to be more accurate, and we are 1.500 mts above sea level)

Right now, my bike is in the factory again (I bought it used directly from AKT, the manufacturer in Colombia) because I found out the fuel tank had very much rust inside and they were willing to take care of it.

Just a couple of weeks with the bike so far, but very happy with it.

Hi Alejo.

Right now my bike has 6600mi, all valves set at the 0.06mm standard, and cold starts fine after 3s in the morning with full choke applied (2°C/36°F, 260m ASL).
However, many colleagues at my country set their valves at 0.08/0.10mm (intake/exhaust) and are happy with it.

Regards,
Juan Carlos.
