Rear end blown. This SUCKS @$$
Well. Got my third engine rebuild done on the 68cc Genuine Roughouse.
Went extra slow on the assembly this time. Double checking everything. When it was together, I started it and let it get to 256 deg. F , then let it cool down and rechecked the head torque. ( 120 in. lbs. / 10 Ft. Lbs. if anyone cares ) Then ran it up to 355 deg. and let it cool back down again. Again rechecked the head torque. Instead of relying on the oil mixer, I mixed up my OWN gas-oil mix. 20:1 since it was new motor in brake in period. Buttoned everything back up, and off I went. Making sure to keep the RPM's under 9k, and no more than 3/4 throttle. WEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL, what can I say. . . The MOTOR held up for 5 or so miles. BUT, then the REAR END bearings went out!!!!!!! That , in turn, puked the oil seal, witch in turn puled gear oil all over my brake shoes. I pushed the 200 lb scoot about a mile as it broke down in a really bad part of town. Then called my wife to come pick me up and take me to the house so I can get my truck & trailer and go back after it. Sadly, it was still there when I got back. Maybe I should have left it in the bad part of town. How stupid of me! Sooooooooooooooooo, NOW , , after spending $250 on new engine stuff, new head studs straight from PGO and all, , , , waiting 2 weeks for it to all arrive, , , I have a GREAT RUNNING scooter, that can not move itself! AND, to throw0 a pound of black powder into the campfire, NOW my wife who had finally finally finally agreed to start riding the scooter, informed me after this incident today that there is not a snowballs chance in hell she was riding this scooter now. She don't trust it. And frankly, neither do I . Instead of fixing it , , again, , again, , again , , AGAIN, I might try to sell it off as scrap, or piece by piece on E-Bay and TRY to recoup some of my loss. Once my Mercedes is sold, we are buying her a 300cc trike once and for all. Should have just bought one of those instead of the Grom probably. ( to be fair to her ) Oh well. This F'n sucks!

Excalibur Motorsports will have a couple containers of the TGB scooters coming by the end of this month or early May. TGB is only sending 50cc 2-strokes for now, but I imagine they will be better than your scooter. Let me know if you are interested.

Oh man...that really sucks Louis, especially after all that work and $$$. I had a 350 Chevy motor in a 68 Nova back in high school that..it didn't matter how careful I was assembling that motor, (plasti-gauge and all) it tossed rods. The (very trusted) machine shop assured me there was nothing wrong with the crank or block. I even coughed up for the expensive rods. Third pass, third rod chucked (this time through the pan)....I tossed the motor.
I share your frustration..... Sometimes it doesn't matter how you pamper the baby, it's just gonna scream.

Now on it will be a 150cc GY6 or Honda/Yamaha/etc. That being said, since I bought the new Grom, I was , was, , , going to sell the roughhouse after my wife was comfortable and ready to move up to a 150. Was. :-/ I have already started stripping it down to the frame. I will be selling all of my scooter and scooter related parts. From what all I have spent on this scooter over the last year, I could have bought an RX3. Flat out. In FULL. Geeezzzzzzzzzzz.
