Thanks for posting the great photos, IB. Unlike today, they certainly built things to last back then.

Bank Holiday Monday saw me take to the roads at 9.30 this morning to complete the 6th destination. Sigginstown Castle in County Wexford is where I was headed. A round trip of 240km due to me taking the small boat ferry across the River Suir from Passage East to Ballyhack in County Wexford to shorten the journey.

Leaving picturesque Passage East behind

The Keeway on board with only 3 other vehicles

Sigginstown Castle was difficult to find and it is also for sale, if any of you fancy owning a castle in Ireland
http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?id=382390

Here is a little bit of history on it
http://irishantiquities.bravehost.co...gginstown.html

On my way back home I visited Kilmore Quay one of the biggest fishing and sailing ports in Ireland

Thanks for posting the beautiful photographs from the Emerald Isle. I love seeing your Keyway in its native habitat!

That castle is a steal for a mere, 300,000 Euros.

I remember Father Murphy was from Kilcormac, in County Wexford.

At Boolavogue as the sun was setting
O'er the bright May meadows of Shelmalier
A rebel hand set the heather blazing
and brought the neighbours from far and near

Then Father Murphy from old Kilcormack
Spurred up the rock with a warning cry:
"Arm! Arm!" he cried, "For I've come to lead you
for Ireland's freedom we'll fight or die!"

He lead us on against the coming soldiers
And the cowardly Yeomen we put to flight
'Twas at the Harrow the boys of Wexford
Showed Bookey's regiment how men could fight

Look out for hirelings, King George of England
Search every kingdom where breathes a slave
For Father Murphy of County Wexford
Sweeps o'er the land like a mighty wave

At Vinegar Hill, O'er the pleasant Slaney
Our heroes vainly stood back to back
and the Yeos at Tullow took Father Murphy
and burnt his body upon a rack

God grant you glory, brave Father Murphy
And open Heaven to all your men
the cause that called you may call tomorrow
in another fight for the Green again

Nice one Spud. Wexford has had its fair share of Rebels. Funny thing a person from Wexford is called a " yellow belly". Must check out where this nickname came from:-)

Here's a nice rendition of "The Boys of Wexford," commemorating the Irish Rebellion of 1798.

We are the boys of Wexford,
Who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain
And free our native land.

In comes the captain's daughter,
The captain of the Yeos,
Saying "Brave United Irishmen,
We'll ne'er again be foes.
A thousand pounds I'll give
If you will fly from home with me,
And dress myself in man's attire
And fight for liberty."

We are the boys of Wexford,
Who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain
And free our native land.

And when we left our cabins, boys,
We left with right good will
To see our friends and neighbours
That were at Vinegar Hill!
A young man from our Irish ranks
A cannon he let go;
He slapt it into Lord Mountjoy
A tyrant he laid low!

We are the boys of Wexford,
Who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain
And free our native land.

We bravely fought and conquered
At Ross and Wexford town;
Three Bullet Gate for years to come
Will speak of our renown;
And if for want of leaders,
We lost at Vinegar Hill,
We're ready for another fight,
And love our country still!

We are the boys of Wexford,
Who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain
And free our native land.

I love Irish music. I'm not trying to hijack your thread, IB. Please keep posting the beautiful photographs from your Emerald Isle. Here's a final song about Wexford.

Great work Spud. Looks like you do indeed like Irish music. You must have some Irish blood in you, maybe even some Wexford blood!
You might well turn out to be a "yellow belly"yourself!!

Here's a good one for you

That's a great song, IB.

As far as I know, there isn't a drop of Irish blood in my veins. However, we rebels are kindred souls.

Didnt think I would use it so much as I have other bigger bikes. But I am having such fun on it. I will keep using it as much as I can to test it fully. But so far I havent a problem of any sort with it.

I know exactly what you mean, IB. In addition to my Zongshen 200GY-2, I also own a Honda XR650L, and a Honda CRF250X. Nevertheless, I still enjoy riding my Zong, and have over 56,000 miles on its odometer.

Hi All,
just back from the Kerry Location of the Irish Photo Rally which was the Glenmore Youth Hostel in Lauragh. Dull and wet start to the morning. Met up with Liam Leahy and his son William (who were at our Jawa Rally in Redcross last year) in Midleton. They on BMW RT1200, and Honda Deuville 650 respectively and me on my little Keeway 125. In fairness to Liam he led us off at a nice steady pace of 80-90kph and reduced this to 70 kph on the twisty roads of West Cork. First stop was Glengariff for a tea and scones at The Cottage Bar and Restaurant

Then we headed off toward Adrigole on the Beara Peninsula

and turned off up to climb the Healy Pass.

Fairly windy climb up here but the sun started to come out and the rain stayed away. After a brief stop at the top it was on to Lauragh and to the Glenmore Youth hostel at the shore of Glenmore Lake.

Photo's complete we headed back along the Lakeshore and around the coast to Kenmare and on to Kilgarvan stopping for tea, toasted sandwiches and chips at €6 a head, at a little restaurant The Village Grill. The owner was a mad F1 Ferrari Fan. This little place was covered in Ferrari memorabilia

This was across the road from former politician Jackie Healy Rae's pub. Poor old Jackie was under pressure as he had 2 bus loads of Hen Party's to cater for!

After being well fed we headed back home through Macroom and Cork with a tailwind behind us cruising along at 100kph. Got home with 410km on the trip clock. My longest one day spin in the saddle for nearly 30 years!
Butt is bit sore but other than that had a great day out!
