It's unusual for somebody to have that problem with the pilot jet threading. you are the first person I know of in fact. As far as the float height. A real VM26 float level is 21mm, but if that translates to these carbs is a different question. I had the best luck with simply setting the float seams level with the bowl flange surface with the carb inverted. When I checked my fuel level with the bowl in the same method you used, it was level with the lower part of the bowl flange, or a few mm below the bowl gasket.

THats were my fuel level is too. Last night i took carb cleaner to it.huge intake leak at the head to manual fold. The oring is proud of the surface. So wtf? I dont see any craks, the mani is new, so i made a card board gasket and used yamabond to seal it up. Ill fire it up tonight.

Nope. I baught n224.103. They look identical, but the mic dosnt lie. Ill grab some proper jets and a 110 for the main.
Well I started it to see if the vacuum leak is still there . It is. So i put yamabond on the intake side of the manifold also. Tighted it back ip. Try again tomorrow. This puzzles me. I see no cracks going around the intake track, the oring is proud of the manifold surface, and the oring is the same size as the craked, stock manifold that was on it when i got it. I did notice one of the fins runs under the manifold, but it doesn’t look like its the problem.. i try again tomorrow.

I'd check that the mating surfaces have not become permanently warped. A little chassis grease on the o-rings might help as well. Make sure the o-rings are perfect while you're at it...ARH

Yay! You were right arh. The bolts were too tight. I took off the ..ahem..intake pipe, cleaned them back up, put a little grease on the orings, and just snugged it up. Sounds really good . Now I just need to get a 22 and 25 pilot and start tunning it.

One thing you could do to help prevent over tightening in the future is to change out the bolts from Hex heads to Cap head allen screws. Much harder to over tighten using an Allen key, and if you are worried about them backing out, use one slightly longer with a lock washer and washer under the head.

I got my extended mix screw in today, but its too long. It hits the starter. Any out there that are shorter?

I don't know if there are any shorter, but if it was me, I'd cut the end off (where it is hitting the starter), file a flat on one side, drill a hole in it for a piece of rod, loc-tite it push it into the hole, let it sit overnight and you'll be good to go...ARH
