Thank you for that reply. Yes, mainly cause of the rain.

PE28FL on SSR?

It's a nice cable otherwise. Thankfully I did have a single pull cable from another throttle I bought that I forgot about and it worked out ok.

The clutch cable is too short for the stock Hawk holder to reach the lever arm. I am waiting for a CRF230F unit that bolts to the case further back to give that a try and see if it works. Necessary? No. Just another one of my tinkering experiments.

The carb installation itself - still having an issue with tank clearance and the throttle cable right at the top of the carburetor. I guess the nibbi is just tall and forward enough to hit in almost exactly the same place. At this point I am thinking I may just dent the damn fuel tank and be done with it.

It's not bad enough I couldn't get it mounted though, at least no worse than the PE30, and at least with the stock style intake there is a lot less intake flex/movement when riding.

Jetting I started with was essentially the jets right out of my PZ30B carb. The pilot is a 38, the Main is a size up at a 135 just to be safe. Idle mixture started at 2 turns out and I had to use the cold start enrichment to get it going. Once it idled for a few minutes I turned it in until I was 1 turn out and it started to stumble a bit. Backed off 1/2 a turn and it was much more stable, backed off another 1/4 turn and the idle holds dead steady at 1500. Hot restarts fire right back up. 2 turns out is just a wee bit lean on the idle, but still allows it to fall back to idle rpm without hanging up. I tend to like my idle a hair on the rich side with my compression being so high and my ignition advanced, so i am quite happy where it is.

I didn't get to check the main jet yet, but I suspect it will be fairly close. I did notice I get the same stumble transitioning to the needle like I used to get with the PE30 when I had it in the 3rd slot. I am going to simply move it to the second just like I did with that carb and be done with it.

Hello, Do you or others know if this carb would fit the SSR XF250?

No idea if it would fit your bike. The XF250 is an entirely different machine.

Has anybody solved the issue with the throttle cable butting into the gas tank with the PE28? My throttle cable is too short now and it won't rev all the way down, and revs even higher if i straighten the handlebars or turn to the right. Throttle cable adjustment is already as loose as it will allow.

Would this pressure against the gas tank be ok with the Nibbi throttle cable? Is there another throttle cable with a tight elbow off the top of the carb? Do I have to dent in the gas tank? Thanks!

Sad part is I was removing the air box and grounded my starter solenoid on a bolt and started smoking the ground wire. I know my battery is smoked now. I even told myself to unhook the battery.
Just a reminder, you always have to remember that if you let the factory smoke out, it will not be good anymore.

I appreciate this groups kindness and wisdom immensely.
Yes, it will fit. I carefully heated it up with a micro torch thing and it slides on there pretty easy.

But, my stock intake hose has a kink in it. I think it hampers high rmp breathing. I just got an Uni foam pod filter and an 3" to 2" intake hose. I will try to incorporate protection from the airbox around Uni filter and hope the conical shape of the new intake tube lets her breath well at high RPM. I want to be able to take the highway for short spells if necessary.

Howdy, long time since I posted, but I have been revamping my 2016 tt250 and installing a nibbi pe28FL, and just fought the exact same throttle cable battle you and Megadan were experiencing.
I was able to reroute the stock cable in front of the forks and get it ALMOST perfect, but it still was just a hair too short and would stick open occasionally. I ended up buying this new cable from amazon as its the closest style I could find and had seemingly just the right amount of extra length.

I got it today, and since the elbow/nut setup is slightly different than stock I did end up having to fabricate a small hold down bracket for the elbow - since the original hold down cannot be removed without cutting it, and wouldn't fit anyway since the elbow does not have that flare in it. JUST mocked up the prototype quick and dirty bracket, and this cable is PERFECT length for the PE28FL. I will add some pics tomorrow of my setup and hopefully will help someone. might remake the hold down now that I know exactly what I need, it was a bit of trial and error with a hammer to get the compound bend close.

quick pics of the hold down I came up with for the new cable, vs the original. I will probably redo it to make it more precise but it does the job

hope to have everything re-assembled tonight, this carb sounds/runs great so far

Yeah they worked for me with a shift click. Nice prices, especially on the plain silver one.
