BRAAAP. (video)

Decided to do a short little video of what my bike sounds like with the ebay system from a couple of different perspectives. A few off the bike, and one one the bike with the mic outside my helmet. No talking, just a couple minutes of noise.

I figure this is a good way to help people decide if the ebay system is for them. Just keep in mind that I have higher compression and a ported head, so it is a little bit louder/sharper than normal.

I think so too. I think it would be neat if some other guys posted videos of their bikes on this thread for comparison sake. Maybe an otherwise stock bike with just the ebay system. A completely stock CG bike. A modified factory system, or even somebody running a different exhaust.

My recording equipment was nothing fancy or special here. Just my Go Pro with the Mic adapter, and an external mic with a wind muff plugged into it facing the direction of the bike. The on board portion was just the lapel mic used in my helmet stuck outside the helmet with a wind muff on it as well. Honestly amazed at how clean it came out.

They tried to modify the muffler for the sake of some power. Still can't really hear it lol. If you look at the picture of the TT250 with the mud all over the right side you can see the muffler cap turned golden brown. They removed the spark arrestor/baffle completely, so the muffler just dumps into the cap.

Dan, Our bikes sound about the same. Now the X22R sounds completely different at full throttle. Those higher RPM's scream.

Yeah, the OHC Motors already have that advantage to begin with. I was actually wondering if I should try to find a CDI without a rev limiter for my bike. I guess I will see how easily I slam into the rev limiter after the cam install.

I would. My Hawk hits the rev limiter fairly easy. Maybe with that cam it will push the power band up higher. My gasket should be here today for the X22R. Hopefully i can get that swapped out over the weekend so i can get her back on the road. I have to deal with my carport demolition first.

The cam will push the power curve higher for sure, but by how much is hard to say since I don't have a CG250 to work as an analog and CG125's are a different animal. If I had to guess, the peak is likely going to shift at least 1000rpm, maybe 1500.

In that case, it will move power peak from 7000 to 8000-8500, which means in a worse case scenario the bike will pull hard right into the rev limiter in the factory CDI, which is honestly not entirely a bad thing, but it would be nice to be able to stretch it to at least 9000.

I did order a couple of "performance" CDI's. One had decent reviews overall and was cheaper. No big claims on performance gains, but it lacks the rev limiter. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also ordered one of those blue ones from an generic brand name as well. I figure they are so cheap I might as well. I can give both a try and see which one, if either, has any sort of benefit beyond the lack of a rev limiter.

A few things from my end

- Sounds like a real bike..rather than what I'm used to hearing on my stock exhaust, maybe I will produce a similar vid for noise comparison

- Visually \ audibly, the pull of your bike in 1st in 2nd presents power that is quite apparently missing in my stock TBR7 ( imagine that cannot be exhaust alone )

- The swingarm is dead sexy on your bike

- May I ask for the make\model of your jacket ? ( I likey)

- The noise you hear while riding your bike is more intake than exhaust noise. I remember the first time I heard my first Hawk being ridden away by a buddy, completely stock mind you, it barely made a sound. Even when he rode by getting on it, there wasn't much to it. They are so heavily baffled and the cat restricts the exhaust so much that they barely make a noise lol.
Even in my video, a lot of the noise while doing the 1-4 run on the bike was more intake than exhaust.

I think it would be awesome if you and other guys made videos. I could turn the first post into a compilation of exhaust noises, from mild to wild.

- Bear in mind that my bike is geared up (about a 17/45 equivalent) and is carrying a 6'4 270lb man around as well. I think that is one aspect of my bikes performance that needs to be accounted for.

You are correct that there is more at work than just an exhaust. The exhaust makes a good difference though. What you see and hear on my bike is the exhaust, plus port work, plus increased compression, plus bigger carb. Those elements combined have made a Hawk that pulls way harder through the gears than my last one ever did, and it was geared the same. What my last Hawk didn't have was the ported and decked head and smooth bore 30mm carb.

- The jacket is a Tourmaster Sonora Air 2.0 in Gunmetal and Black. Only been using it for about a year now, but it is one of the best jackets I have ever owned. They are actually on sale right now too for $189, which is about 50 bucks less than what I paid. If you decide to get one, take my advice and order 1 size up. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...xoCobsQAvD_BwE

My full gear compliment, minus the helmet is as follows, if interested at all.
Tourmaster Epic Air boots
First Gear Rover Air overpants
Tourmaster Sonora Air 2.0 jacket
Reax Castor perforated gloves
