Need a wheel speed sensor wizard.

I have a storm and I am putting a https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F223486449558 digital cluster on it that comes with the normal threaded hall effect sensor. Rather then dinking around with making a mount I bought a csc tt250 wheel speed sensor. Fits great, cheaper than the alieexpres options and it got here in 3 days. Problem is it doesn't work, I get no reading on the speedo. If I hook up the sensor that came with the speedo and hold it against the wheel speed senor it does read, so I know the rotor is spinning. Is there different resistance ranges among these wheel speed sensors? Is the cluster not sensitive enough to pick up the magnets? Anyone know the for sure wiring of their sensor? Pretty sure I tried every combo available, red-red, yellow-white, green -green makes the most sense. Anyone have a clue why it's not working?

so why are you not using the hall sencer they show in the link you posted?...
seems to be the unit they supply with the speedo....

I don't feel like dinking around with fabing a mount or trying to get magnets to stay on the hub. Plus they are more prone to damage from sticks and rocks.

Maybe I can help if you help me etc.

As some might know I was at Motocheez W/S and I fitted up several digital speedometers for testing seeing what the layout of his bikes were etc..
What you REALLY should have is like what I had with me:
Terminals and connectors to suit the bike.
Correct crimping tool.
Wire preferably correct color codes - for dash to main bike loom and for the gear switch wires.
Storm needs a gear ind switch at the engine.
Magician needs a correct fuel sensor. Storm HAS NO fuel sensor but my dash can use that part as volt gauge just like the PitsterPro XTR or Shineray small X5
Storm and other possibly can get a correct fitting wheel sensor (Magician only can use the sticky outy universal style ATM with 3 bolts that have magnets on the end so no drilling of disc etc).
A couple hours to sort lengths or add in short add on loom and tidy wires (maybe I am slow?)
The fact is these cheap universal dashes are dumped on the market and mass produced but what you get with it is hard to use, wrong info often, wire missing, incomplete to suit your bike often and making a more CUSTOM setup which is much more direct fir is easier( need to DIY mount it tho) but this is not something any other seller in all China wants or is willing to do.

If you really get stuck my mate is in SLC Utah for 7 weeks and if you sent some or all the bits I could look at it help you sort the system so I also know whats needed.

So for the Storm or other bikes you have these programmable options:
Gear ind and gear ind at engine if needed.
Full near plug n play harness.
Option to have No fuel or fuel gauge
Option to use from 1 to 8 magnets (depends on sensor/type of sensor they vary a lot)
Option to set any rolling circumference of you wheel 14 - 21 inches
Volt meter displaying a number after ODO menu
I can enter in parameters for easier get up n go.

BUT this is more expensive then the cheap online prices BUT much cheaper then a USA sold unit for other specific bikes etc.

I see loads of guys have issues or spend a day or 2 doing it and not making a good job of the wires IMO so I am looking at the Hawk and Bross style dash to be able to do this (the factory is the hold up! he's not getting the idea and he is coming this weekend it seems)

Anyway theres my thoughts n details and you can begin to see it isn't all as easy as it seems.

Red = 12v, Green is Batt -/Earth Yellow is signal.
Looks like you proved the wheel speed sensor to be faulty - shouldn't be an issue by using another style but do take note the number of magnets and how that is programmed in the dash

Wiring was easy, colors match for the most part other than they say the coil pick up is purple, but it was yellow/black. I cut the pig tail off the factory speedo and soldered it to the new speedo instead of unpinning and repinning.

The csc sensor is a 2 magnet rotor, checked with a screw driver.

I bought a gear shift indicator from csc with the wheel speed sensor because it was cheap, not sure if it will fit but I'll deal with that next.

I have a buddy with an oscilloscope, might see if I can use it and see if this sensor is working or not.

So still needs the gear ind wires huh
I prefer doing it “factory like” just how I see it

Purple could be battery power or maybe 6th gear in some casss

Got it working after some sleep and time away from it. Wiring on the speed sensor is wonky, used the thread in style that did read to get reference voltages. The csc sensor was reading 10v on the red and only 2.5 on the yellow, other one red around 10v on both. So I switched the red and yellow and ended up with near 10v on each one and it gave me a reading. Guessing the coil and reference were backwards.

So yep, if you have a storm, the csc tt250 wheel speed sensor/counter is a direct swap.

Glad to see you got it working. I was replacing connectors on my bike Saturday. You really have to pay attention. I had quiet a few wires that colors didn't match up from one side of the connector to the other. I relocated one wire at a time to make sure I didn't try to match colors. I would really been scratching my head trying to figure out what went wrong.

That's one thing about Chinese products, don't expect consistency in documentation lol. There were a few disparities with colors in the clusters documentation but its figured out. Main issue was the coil pickup for the tach, black/yellow is just a bit different than purple. Haven't made it to the shift indicator yet so see if those are correct.

I’ve got a zong 200
Cheers for info as this helps
Want a part loom for gear ind wires? I’ll give you one
