I've never heard of that; if you find one, please post it here. Honda has been using the screen type since the '70's, and it has worked well. It pays to remove the clutch cover occasionally to clean out the centrifugal slinger goo, but that is a need despite whatever filter you use.

The only one I know of is designed to work with the oil coolers. I am not aware of any filters that go in place of the stock screen/spring. The CG motors have a more than sufficient method of removing particulate from the oil, so a paper filter isn't entirely necessary. The screen filter is there to catch bigger bits from going into the oil pump, and under the right case cover is the centrifugal oil spinner designed to remove fine particulate from the oil.

Back in the day of racing my Honda 200x 3 wheeler we would use a Fram paper filter like the one below. we would put an o-ring around each end to keep it centered and used a cut down spring to pressure to hold in place. Worked great. I wish I could remember the part number because the screen on the Hawk is the same as the one on the 200x. You have to love Cajun ingenuity.

I'm going to do some research and see if they even make the filter anymore. If I remember right they were actually a fuel filter for mid 70's to 80's GM carburetor. I ran that type filter for years. One of my buddies had come up with the idea of using it. It worked so well we all stared using them. Except for the overhead cam the 200x is very similar to the Hawk engine as far as the rest of the engine like the clutch, transmission and so on. I wish the Hawk had the overhead cam. I would be willing to bet the Hot Cam would work. I raced the bike from 1985 to 1992. When I retired it from racing I fabricated a rack for the back for deer hunting. That was one quick hunting machine. lol But enough of the rambling. I'll see what I can find on it. I had forgotten all about this mod until you brought up the topic. Sometime you have the kick the old man to jog his memory. lol

They are close in dimensions and both are available at the auto parts stores. The 33044 has a larger ID which may be the one it is. I'll have to take some dimension on the bike to verify.

I did an oil change yesterday morning. Neither one of those will work as the diameter is too small. I'll have to look some more. It will take a filter that is about 7/8" diameter and about an inch long. I found a couple of aluminum shavings that I assume are from the oil cooler in the screen. I also checked the centrifugal filter which was pretty clean.
