I listed popular dual sport and adventure bikes under 450 lbs, plus the EU spec XT660Z Ténéré just for fun. The RX3 again holds its own with good specs, as well as being the 2nd lightest and the least expensive bike in this list.

The RX3's optional 19" front wheel and knobbies would increase its ground clearance by another .5" to 1" depending on selected tire and tread, but the same is true of any bike, so I only used stock specs. I couldn't find official ground clearance specs for 2 of the bikes so I took the best estimate from different forums.

The table abbreviations are: Curb Weight, Engine size, Ground Clearance (in), Front Wheel (in), Rear Wheel (in), Front Travel (in), Rear Travel (in) and MSRP. The table is sorted by ground clearance, then front travel.

Code:

Ducati Hyperstrada 450 821 8.0 17 17 5.1 5.1 $9,995.00 estimated grd clearance
Honda CB500X 430 471 6.7 17 17 4.9 4.7 $6,299.00

Terrific info again! Thanks.

I sat on a Ducati Scrambler at the local bike show in January. I loved it, but I think the Zong is a much better value.

Discover card is credited, Thanks CSC!

It is there today. Didn't get done till yesterday date, for some reason. Anyway, not a problem now.
Again, Thanks for the credit, as I already have plenty to deal with anyways.. whew!
I'll be riding tomorrow, also, it seems!
A good friend (used to be a Yamaha shop tech) found a WR 250 Yamaha and a DRZ 400 for 3000, well 2800 DRZ and 3100 WR, so a wash, really for me, (after shipping here)....and I really like the Yamaha anyway. Its got 8000 miles, and an IMS 3.5G or therabouts tank, a tank bag he's including, and has it wired for GPS and heated accessories already, so save all that hassle as well. I already have soft bags(use/swap off/on my SVS 650) and a tail box (from an old scooter thats blue, also, so I'm pretty happy about now its worked out so well for me, really. Do the right thing, and sometimes, things work out (sometimes not too, though! hehe)

Hope everything goes well for you guys bikes as well. I always said and thought the Zongs were GREAT bikes, and should last as long as any bike out there once debugged, if any, (like ANY new bike and design, from ANY manufacturer.)

IF I lived in Cali, could afford to ride BAHA with the group, (time and other wise), I'm confident the bike would be "debugged" after the 1000+ miles trip. I'm confident of that.

I'd have been OK going through with the ride and purchase, probably, as I feel confident CSC will fix them in their facilities if a internal engine issue comes up (or anything needing shop level tools I couldn't do myself), I believe.

On my own, (riding back across country), being stuck at some dealer thats a hater of other brands, especially Chinese bikes, not comfortable anyone BUT me would end up paying for a repair I couldn't do on the road.

Without the labor and hourly charges published they'd pay (to help negotiating and to KNOW my maximum exposure if things didn't work out, especially after the deception situation (re independent dealers/approved service centers not really planned after all), well, I'm just not as trusting after that, especially when they were uninterested in changing the wording of warranty and sales info to reflect the new or real policy that they have in place. Hopefully they change that soon.

Anyway GL with your bikes, and ride safe! Maybe see you "out there", sometimes. I enjoyed the site and time on here and most of the people I met, especially. I'll try to make a Zong ride (East coast, of course, if someone puts one together, too.

Thanks CSC for crediting my card back, as promised!
and I APOLOGIZE for my premature reaction when I thought there might be an issue re my deposit. (Thanks Weld and Adjuster for the good advice to wait 24 hrs more and also Steve when I called and he had Patti emailed the copy of the transaction.

More useless trivia from Weldangrind, and yet another hijack. At least I'm consistent.
Indeed, you are consistently helpful, informative, and interesting. These forums would not be the same without you.

Three hours ago the Hanjin Germany was sailing southeast at 16.4 knots from the following location.

LAT: 48° 53' N LONG: 153° 27' W

The vessel was farther east than the easternmost island of Hawaii, and farther south than Bellingham, Washington. The ship was located a little over 2,000 statute miles from Long Beach, which is much closer than the distance from Hilo, Hawaii to Long Beach. The vessel is making good time, consistently sailing faster than 16 knots, which is much faster than the speeds it sailed during the first half of its voyage.

In memory of the long distance the RX3 motorcycles have traveled from their city of manufacture, here is another time lapse video of Chongqing.

I admit, it took me awhile too.

That's funny, but not as funny (to me) as Star Trek Day, which is May 4.

That's good, also. However, they stole that day from the movie Star Wars.

I blew it. I meant Star Wars, but Leonard Nimoy has been on my mind lately. Especially with the older Canadian $5.00 bill defacing. Very funny.

Thats cool re Spock stamp! Can't see tha EVER happening here...too many tight assed, no fun allowed, insecure, egomaniacs in power, here.
He was a VERY underrated Actor, IMHO.

That ships headed "for the barn" and has a decent tailwind. Also, I believe there are some pretty stout currents running SOuth/southeast , pushing probably..
